A Silly Question.

I feel ashamed to ask such a silly question, but all these days I come across this term here and there and I just can't figure out the meaning of it. So I decided to put my puzzling here regardless of how silly the question might be: What does LOL mean?

No need to be ashamed; no question is too silly or too stupid. It's cyber short-hand for "Laughing out Loud." Prior to the Internet, some used it to signify "Lots of Love." People use it in cyberspace to indicate a lighthearted or funny comment, or when they are jesting. Thanks for a great topic!

Thank you all for your timely explanation. I'm quite ignorant about cyber language. I think that's also a part that I can learn here in mylot. Your replys are very helpful.

Don't feel ashamed to ask this question. I asked the same question years ago when I first seen it online. LOL, means, laugh out loud. We type these letters when something is funny to us or when we say something funny to someone else online. I have used it so much that sometimes I even say it when I am talking to someone face to face without even thinking about what I have just said. You didn't ask a silly question. I hope I answered you well enough though.
