For me, a new book is a treat. I will hurry up and get everything done so that I can curl up with a good book. I like mystery the best. It is easy for me to follow but I never figure out who done it, before it is reviewed. Sometimes I am so sure and then when I find out, I am frustrated, because it was so obvious. Last year, I read this whole McNally series. I forgot all of the names, but the guy was very, very smooth. Although, I did not really approve of his charactor, I enjoyed reading about him. There was one about the inverted Jenny stamps and about three others. I also like to read love stories. Not the silly romance books with the model type men on the front, but real stories. I also like the tear jerker feel good books like some of Danielle Steels work. Biographys are also good. And of course I love Christian books, especially the Bible. Today, I went to the thrift store and found a good self-help book for 50 cent. I like to read this kind as long as the person has a degree and knows what they are talking about. Or can at least make me a believer.

I love to read I like Barbara Taylor Bradford and Nora Roberts, Daniel Steel. I read Daniel Steel's Titanic and cried several times. The main family went though heck if you have not read it it is good reading. I am reading one new about making of a moving about a restaurant. It is good so far. It is fiction. I read the book Laci Peterson's mother wrote Sharon Rocha. I cried so much. It was so sad to read how you thought your someone you loved as you son could kill your daughter and her baby. There where parts in the book that was gross when they descibed the finding of the body. Yuck! I like going to garage sales and buying books espically old books. Happy reading.

I am definitely an avid reader. As soon as I finish one book, I start another. If I am about to finish a book, I bring another one with me so I am never without a book :)

You are like me, as soon as I get close to the end of one book, I start worrying about what I will read next. It's actually anxiety, but I try not to take it too seriously. Just as long as I have that book on standby.

I like reading, but I can't say that I am an avid reader. There are some books that I choose to read and a lot of books I choose not to read. I like books about fantasy, like the Harry Potter. I also like some local books written by local authors. I like comic books written by local authors also. They make me laugh.

I like books that make you laugh too. Not to long ago, I read a good book that had me laughing out loud. I think my roommate thought I was losing my mind. I need to find some more books like that.

I like to read magazines and the newspaper but I'm not a real book person - I read the occasional book - my latest is: Friend of the Earth by T.C. Boyle - I like a lot of modern novels - nothing old or boring... Definitely would recommend T.C. Boyle - his latest book "Talk Talk" is a-mazing.

I geuss I qualify as an avid reader because I can read three books at a time, meaning one for one week, another for the next etc till I am done. Keeps my mind sharp as i am always looking to improve my writing skills . . . by reading other great or not-so-great works.

I get so excited about books that I can not wait to read the next one, so sometimes I am reading up to five books at one time. I know it sounds silly, but I can go from one book to the next. I can also go for about six months without finishing a book and then pick it up again and I never miss a beat. Reading is so much fun to me. I just can not get enough of it. But the book hast to be interesting.

I am an avid reader. It is crazy but I even like the smell of new books. I read anything I can get my hands on. Television is mostly a wasteland anymore so I read at night. I will read at least 2 books a week. It is a good thing we have a large library near by or I would be broke.

I too love the smell of new books. And just like you, television has no appeal to me at all anymore. I can't even remember the last time I turned it on. I get books from where ever I can. I have a card for every major city near me. I think that some people are just born enjoying reading. When I about 13 years old, I started reading music magazines of my favorite celebrities. I never knew then that I loved to read, I just figured that I was doing it becasue I like finding out new information about the entertainers. Not until I was grown, one day it just dawned on me that I loved to read. I can get so lost in a book that hours will past so quickly. This enjoyment is really a gift for me.

Yes, I too am an avid reader. I guess the biggest difference with us is that I'll read just about anything-unless it's truly boring. I have been a mystery novel fan for many years. I also love horror, fantasy, historical romance, and yes, I even read my Bible regularly. I figure it will atone for some of the really dirty books that I read.LOL Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Iris Johanssen, Nora Roberts, Christine Feehan, Jeffrey Deaver, and James Lee Burke. I like stories that take place in New Orleans, Texas, and the British Isles. I even write a little, but have never had anything published except poetry-of which I am very proud.

I'm a book worm. I buy lots and lots of books every month and I can't wait to finish what I am currently reading to read another one. I love mysteries as well, my faves are Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. I read any kind of books... and I have a few authors I found out who were great and became my instantly favorite.

Yes i like reading a lot and one of my all-time favorite author is Sydney sheldon. You should try reading his books because he writes very well and the characters are very unpredictable. Its a read u just can't put down. I think he's one of the best. By the way, most of his characters are women.

I like books especially love story books and about missionaries. When i read iwll finish it. But there`s a time that i will not touch the book because i dont like to read it. They said if you read a lot of books your vocabulary will improve and develop. I think its true but if i see a book that is thick oh my i will not read it and i will just choose a very thin one that is easy to read and quick to finish.

I love to read, and my biggest challenge is dividing my time between books and magazines. I am a magazine junkie and love to read them; love newspapers too (I get a local daily, regional on Sunday and whenever else I get in the mood, and a national weekly paper based in New York). I just finished a wonderful book called "A Fine Balance," which was written about India and four characters whose lives intersect. It was so enthralling I stayed up late several nights to finish it. I love reading stories about other cultures, particularly those set in India or China and I like stories about new immigrants, too. I probably read more fiction than nonfiction, but I try and keep up with nonfiction political books. There are just too many books out there and too little time. This weekend is going to be great for me because I won a Borders giftcard for writing something at another site (Gather), and I can't wait to go buy some new books. Getting book cards is my favorite gift for Christmas and my birthdays, too. So yes, I would definitely call myself an avid reader!

What do you mean, "By now you are way past me." I did not name every book I have ever read. This was not a competition. I read all kinds of books including the $500.00 worth of psychology books I am studying.

I love to read, but I am usually reading the books you don't like. lol I read mostly romance that average 300 pages long. Much longer and it's hard for me to get involved and stay in it since I have two kids and sometimes can't get back to my book for a few days. I don't want to have to start a book over because there are so many characters that I can't remember who is who. I can also read those books in a couple of hours, which is good for me since once I start I don't usually put them down unless I have to do something around the house or take care of the boys. I've gotten some good deals on half.com, as well as buying lots on ebay. I am also a member of our local freecycle yahoogroup and I have gotten tons of books from there. :)
