Do people mess up your first or last name? Even if it's common? This happens to me all the time. Our last name is simple and people still mess it up. My first name is Bekki and some of my relatives that have known me all my life still spell it Becky. What about you?

It would be very difficult for anyone to mess up my name, it's pretty simple although not as easy as John Smith or something.

Um Hello, we have the same last name, and people mess it up all the time for me. Maybe I don't say it clearly then!

My name is not very common, so people tend to say it every way possibly known to man. I sometimes can't believe how many variations they can come up with. It makes me laugh, but very hard to believe sometimes1

I take it that your name is kinda hard for people to grab a hold of and get it right I do that with common names more then I do the odd names, but I am glad to hear that you laugh about it.

Yes, my name is Laurie and I usually get LORI. And most people can't pronouce my last name correctly, even though it is easy! It is funny though, when I get something addressed to LORI, I just throw it away and when I get a call from someone who can't pronounce my name I hang up!

All the time- My last name is so easy- it is a common word- one that we all use everyday- I still get questions on how to spell it- I always make them feel pretty stupid- when I spell it- : ) Even my first name- Kris- I get Chris, Khris... Come on- I'm a girl let's get it right- Even at work my e-mail address is my first initial last name- and people still start off the e-mail Chris, -- I want to say get a clue! So yes all the time and it drives be crazy- I can see how people would mess up your name- I haven't seen Bekki spelled like that ever- But you'd think your family would get it correct!

Carla is pretty easy. I do have people ask C or K a lot, but that's it. My married last name is easy, too. But my maiden name, a lot of people had trouble with. It's pronounced exactly as spelled. It's two common words, just put together. But people would always say and/or spell it wrong. My husband's name is Carl (cute huh? Carla and Carl, we get it all the time). A lot of times when he says his name on the phone, people think he is saying Paul. I guess he must not speak very plainly. Our son's name is Elliott. We get it misspelled A LOT. My husband has even spelled it Elliot once when he was first born. When my little sister writes it anywhere that my husband will see it, she writes ElliotT now. :) We've had it written Eliot, Elliot, and Eliott. I know there are several ways to spell it, but we chose a fairly common way, and people that have known him his whole life still spell it wrong no matter how often I correct them. When he was born, they put a little heart with his name, weight, and length on it and stuck it to his little bassinet in the hospital. We had to correct them three times before they finally got it right. They misspelled his name TWICE, even after I wrote it down for them! The other time they misspelled his middle name (Michael).

I there, This happens to me fairly often. My first name (Terry) can be spelled a few different ways, Some are more female than male and I while I have a fairly common last name, its not spelled the same way as most so it throws most people off. I've gotten used to just spelling it for people when I tell them my name just to make sure there's no confusion. Take care, Terry

That is so annoying!! My name is Crystal (my middle name is Michele) and people are always calling me Christy, Christa..etc....like Crystal is a weird name or something?? Or they throw an "h" in there somewhere, I know people can spell Crystal all different kinds of ways but mine is the plain old Crystal, nothing special, how hard is that?? Relatives misspelling your name?? I have that happen too, whf?? It seems like people are too lazy to get your name right!

Yep, both my first and the last names people constantly mess up.. my first is Bridgit with is mis-spelled: Brigit, Brigitte, Bridget, Birget and Briget. It also mispronounced Bree-gee-T. My last name is Bowles which is often mis-spelled Bowls and Bowels. It's also most commonly mispronounced the latter, when it should be pronounced like the former.

Yes!! It happens all the time. My first name is Melissa so it's fairly common and easy to pronounce so it doesn't usually happen with my first name but it ALWAYS happens with my last name. I have a long Italian last name that i've been told is hard to pronounce. I think that's fine but some people don't even come close. They add letters and vowels that don't even exist. LOL. My last name is pronounced almost exactly like it's spelled so I don't know what the problem is.

My name is Christyl (Crystal) but everyone always seems to not see the L at the end of my name and they call me Christy. It drives me crazy, you'd think I'd be used to it by now but im not. My mother spelled my name like that cuz it spelled like this-- Crystal is too common and she wanted my spelling to be different...thanks mom!
