What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up?

When I was in public school I wanted to be a nurse or hair dresser. By the time I hit high school I wanted to be a print journalist. I'm not quite doing the career I wanted, but I am writing. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a teacher. While I am not a schoolteacher, I have been a teacher of sorts to people throughout my life. Whether it was teaching my new employees how to do their job or teaching young girls the art of playing softball, it was still teaching. I love kids and would have liked to teach first grade. It is not too late to consider doing this. While I am 51, I am strongly considering taking college courses online to get a degree. I shall let you know if I succeed!! PEACE

when I was really young I wanted to be an author, and when I grew older a journalist. I guess I still have the ambition to write - my life just took a different turn - but hey - I am only 26 - who knows what the future hodls for me =)

I can tell you I didn't want to be a wife or a mother. I planned to be single and ready to mingle! I wanted to be a fashion designer and was quite the fledgling artist! I had many designs and sketch books and had big plans for my future. My mother shot my dream down, when I took out my sketch books to show her my most prized fashion designs and she told me I should just get a job as a nurse or a secretary because my designs weren't going to make me money. I was crushed after that. I threw all of my sketches away and I quit drawing. I became an Administrative Assistant and now I am a wife and a mother. I don't necessarily regret these decisions, but I do regret not pursuing my dream regardless of her opinion of me. I let her thoughts take over my life. I now teach my daughter that she can do whatever she wants in her life.

As a young child I wanted to be a vet, I loved all the cute kitties and doggies, until I saw what you really had to do as a vet. After that I thought I would be a writer but I ended up going to school for special education. I got a job working with behavior disordered high school kids. I loved my job but it was very hard. After 3 years I was burned out and needed a break. So since special education courses are simular to psychology/sociology I decided that is what I wanted to do. I am now a stay at home mom to 5 wonderful children, 2 of whom are disabled. I still have no degree but keep thinking after they are all in school I will go back, but I have no idea what I want to be now when I grow up.

I wanted to be a nurse...I thought that it would be a super job so that I would be able to help people...I was a nurse for 10 years and believe that I did alot of good for alot of people! I almost changed my major to teaching in school...I am glad that I decided against it because I really found nursing to be very rewarding....I hit it with 110% and burnt out in 10 years...I think having a baby 5 years ago probably had alot to do with that since the other kids are all grown with families of their own...I retired from nursing 3 1/2 yrs. ago...that's why I think my son is a big part of that decision....I did not work until he was 6 months old and about a year later...I decided to quit nursing...LOL

I desired to be a driver of a steam engine. I watched a driver operate a steam engine once and I was really fascinated by the engine. When he opened the steam valve, the big wheels first slipped on the rails and then the engine picked up great speed.

I wanted to be a secret agent like 007:-) in my teenage i read a lot of espionage novels and always fantasized to be a character of that novel. I have seen 007 series, mission impossible series, enemy of the state and similar movies with great interest. heck, i could never do that, lol. It seems that they thought i am over smart and don't fit the criteria, lol. but all that helped me improve my observation. by the time i was out of teenage, i wanted more to be an engineer which i am. So not bad, huh!
