Few people really think what they think they are thinking. Do you know what you think about? The answer is revealed by the life you lead. If you are happy and successful, you are thinking thoughts of happiness and success. If you are wading through an endless stream of problems and finding life painful to bear, it is caused by thoughts of doubt, failure, anger, helplessness, incompetence, and pain. In other words, whether you think life is miserable or great, you're correct, for life is whatever you think it is. I call it 'stinkin thinkin'. If you want a life of happiness and success, you must start thinking about happiness and success. If you want to be cheerful and smile more, you must think about being cheerful and smiling more. It's a practice worth trying. It has great benefits. Try it. You might like it.

Your thinking plays a great deal of how your life goes, I know from experience that it carries you where ever you think it goes. I have had alot of time to think since I have been home bound and I found I had to do a lot of mental housekeeping. The way you think generates the type of energy you give off. When you think positively it promotes positive actions and attracts positive reactions. The same goes for negative thinking and my time here on mylot I have been exercising my positive thinking and sharing it with all of you have helped me with the negative thinking I have had to overcome. Thinking does play an important part of where your life goes. I believe that firmly. I like your term, 'mental housekeeping'. I have had to do that in the past and learned to make it a part of my daily chores. I also had to 'weed my garden', so to speak, getting rid of the negative people in my life, although I didn't have to work too hard at it. They just naturally went their own way. Thanks billionaire.

I have had to do some garden weeding myself and its true it was not hard to do, once you change the way you think and stop contributing to their negativity the quiet shy away from you. Once you come to the realization that they are not positive inorder to stay positive you must dispose of the negative no matter who are what it is.

You are correct ma'am. It makes a huge change in one's life not only to recognize it, but to have the desire and gumption to do something about it - all for the betterment of one's self. The rest will fall into place eventually.

I will certainly check it out dawnskaggs. Anytime anyone can offer positive aspects of life instead of joining in and being negative - is a plus for me. With so many people living under a negative lifestyle, offering a positive view to help them is #1 in my books. Thanks for your response. I'm glad you found this post too. Hi Terilee. While I agree, with you to some extent, I honestly believe that there is another part to this theory.A person has to be able to see them selves as others see them. For many years L desperately tried to be little miss sunshine and Pollyanna. I probably was the most unhappy miserable person you could have ever not wish to meet, I knew that by my walking into a room everyone would soon be down, But I kept wishing, hoping and praying. It wasn't until I was told by 15 people how badly I affected them when I was around them I understood and was able to make the change necessary. For you see when I was trying to be the Pollyanna persona I had to please everyone and they had to please me. I did not realize that I was requiring them to lie, as I was lying to them . Not one of the 15 thought I was an honest person as I would tell them what I thought they wanted to hear. Truth was not in my vocabulary. And they said if I wasn't being honest with them what else was I being dishonest about, I was told I was a perfect example of what not to be. Now every one wants to be liked and yes admired so I had deceived myself into thinking that by being a passive person and a Pollyanna person I was everyones perfect friend, when in fact I was the exact opposite. I had to learn to respect myself as a person that I had skills and abilities. That If I wanted to have the respect of my peers than I had to be myself rather than a self serving person that bent herself out of shape to try and please everyone. When I was that other person I had all the the thing that you mentioned above, I took a test at my doctors office and It was so negative that I answered in the negative 58 times out of 60 and he was not going to tell me what the 2 positives were as I might turn them into negatives, I was so full of pain and grief and self hatred that there was no light in my life and yet for years I thought I could cover it up. So you are right when you say your thinking can get you out of the mire, but you do have to know what you are, to change to what you want to be. Sorry this may not be to clear and definitely rambling. but I just had to add my thoughts.

Thank you Robin for your insightful response. I can understand what you say. You are right in what you believe and how you came to discover things. Personally, just for me mind you, I realize how important it it to believe I am reflecting a positive flow of thoughts and energy. I would never suggest anything that you endured was bad or wrong and I wouldn't offend you for the world or want to. As I said, I think I can understand. I have two thoughts about the things you wrote. The first one, just for me again, if I beleived for an instant that I was bringing people down to such a degree, I would not attempt to try to be positive around them. I would simply stay away and make my way through my own thoughts. It would be completely devistating to learn that I brought people down that badly. Secondly, finding out that I was such a negative person would certainly be cause for change, if not for the sake of others, for my own sake. I would never be untrue to my own beliefs and thoughts and be someone I'm not. If I had an inckling of an idea I was that negative I would try to do something to change or if I liked that I was that way, become a sort of hermit. I don't mean to make light of such a situation. Please believe me. I have to say, even in my worst days, I have never had to endure the kind of pain and grief and self hatred that you speak of. There was a time when I didn't like myself very much, but I never hated myself. The pain and grief you experienced must have been devistating. I'm so sorry that you had to endure it - but - I can tell you have made your way to brighter days... Your responses always show honesty and bravery and truth. I applaud you for being so open.

Hi Teri lee. There is an old saying when the pupal is ready the teacher will appear. I think that while a good part of my life was awful that I might have never had gone on that course and would be no wiser, and I do mean wiser in self awareness. I always new that something was terribly wrong, I thought antidepressants would be the answer. but of course they wouldn't, as I actually had to change my image of what I believed myself to be. In order to do that I had to be told how I affected everyone. I just believed I had no friends because I was this truly ugly person inside, and that was where the deception came in. And after I got over the shock and pain I realized they had just given me a open door, All I had to do was walk through it, and Thank the creator I did.

I know that thoughts have tremendous power! And thoughts have different kind of catagory also! Positive thoughts lead for positive results and negative thoughts lead for negative results! Doubts are different thing. It not directly connected with thought area. It affects thought area but if some one is capable to stop that then your thoughts would be free from doubts! And those who are not able are possesed by doubts and its chain! Just make sure that your thoughts are free from doubt element and then go for thought vibrational power to use with good intention! And see the results!

So true healwell. Can you tell everyone how to achieve a doubt free element in your thought process. Can you tell everyone how you achieve it? Some people have a difficutl time understanding how to keep the negative thought process from taking over. Some people can do it naturally. Give everyone your ideas and how you do it. Thanks.

positive mind - life's purpose
Thumbs up! This one is a good post. Thanks terilee. You are very right about this one. Our life is shape by how we think about it. For the past few months, I've been thinking on how I can improve my life or I have these thoughts to have a career move so to have a financially rewarding job, to take masters degree, etc etc. I've been doing a lot of thinking about these stuff and as far as I know they are just normal. They are my aspirations. But somehow these thinking makes me upset and dissatisfied most of the time because I haven't made any move yet to carry out these objectives. I realized, I am putting too much emphasis on those things. And so it made me terrible and depress sometimes. I realized not to dwell to much on those thoughts instead, rather I should be positive for those things to happen and I'll just keep on aspiring and not to get disappointed when I didn't reach any of them yet. I'll take it from you. I'll strive to be happy and positive. I read this route from one of the post here:(It has the same concept.) The Law Of Attraction: “Whatever your life is at the present moment, you have attracted it and manifested it yourself through your thoughts.”

Hi sweetsue. Yes. Your concept is a good one. We can't dwell on the ideas and how they are not happening. Like you said, that causes you to be upset with the results that are NOT happening. You have to condition your thoughts to continually be positive, thinking on and seeing good things happening and coming your way. To think about the things you need to do or wonder how you are going to do them can sometimes become negative very easy. Always try to see the positive side of the situation. It helps. When those negative thoughts come in, just say to yourself, "I'm not going to think that way. I'm going to be positive." The last line is the key.

you are right about that stinkin thinkin gives you more of what you don't want. i make sure that i work on my mind. i make sure that i take the power of my mind and put it to work all the time. i practice every day. so there is no stinkin thinkin for me, just thoughts of pure happiness, love, and joy.

i most people dont closely watch their minds if you watch and analyse the thoughts it will always has got good side and bad side ,it will be upto you to chose the one which for you if you go for good one positive things you will reap positive results in your life and bad one for bad thoughts,

No eyewitness. I haven't seen the movie. And I haven't read the book. I know the concept of positive thinking because I'm fortunately a naturally positive person. Positive thinking is not a magical cure for everything, but it does help to see the positive side of things instead of dwelling on the negative aspects of life.

Wow, thanks for sharing that one. I guess I have to think positively because I noticed that the more I think of negative things, the more that I am lonely. A while back, as I was traveling alone, I get to think of negative things again and I feel like I am having a headache but when I realize that I am thinking negatively again, I focused on thinking my future ahead of me instead of remembering those bad things that happened in the past and I am happy that I was able to smile thinking what a great future I have...

Not only that joice86. Think about the good things in your life you already have. Think about the positive moves you need to make to bring the happiness you seek. When the negative thoughts enter, just tell yourself you aren't going to be negative. See yourself having the things you want in your future.

Good topic. I agree with what you are saying. Not only do you have to change your thinking to change the results you are getting, you also have to see things changing into what you want and then take some action towards making a change. Most people are not aware of their thoughts. That is important. Knowing how you are thinking can give you clues on what to change. People, for the most part, create the reality they live in. What they are thinking and doing today is creating their life for tomorrow. And they do have a choice of creating something problematic or something blissful and fulfilling. Thought do indeed become things.

yes i know that if you think in happy thought you will get happy in your life , but the only thing that i need to stop thinking for just a while , stop thinking at any thing and live the moment , this thinking bring me headice whatever the thinking is , but i agree with you that we have to filed our life with the happiness energy , it work .

Yea you are right about this friend. I pray people who have nagative thoughts learn from this. I am someone who is going through a lot of stress and challenges, cos I need to further my education and my parents can't and I don't want to remain in this level. Therefore I have to get a job and work in order to raise some money for my education. I used to get encouraged, cos of the books I read in the past. Thanks and have a nice day.

Yes, there are many techniques for positive thinking, there are afirmations, visualization and etc. May be they work, but they need a lot of and solide work before the consiousness to implant them in a mental model.

Yes SureshNair. Becoming aware of your thoughts is what I'm talking about. To allow thoughts to come and go with no direction is a part of the issue. We should learn not only to think positive thoughts but we should learn to disregard the negative ones the moment we become aware of them.
