Too many discussion about the distribution of Linux, everybody should have their own feeling about the distribution. Now let's list some great applications in Linux, for example, something MS windows does not have or much powerful than that in MS windows, or even compariable good to the general MS applications. I will begin with my short list. vim ----- editor I love so much firefox ----- browser, also aviable for MS windows thunderbid----- mail client screen ----- very useful application for remote monitor of processings on server. gimp ----- free graphic application like Photoshop mc ----- Midnight commander kdict ----- free online directory plan ----- simple schedule book gaim ----- manager for many IM this is what just in my mind now. Try to list your applications for Linux user.

Well I have seen that many of the applications you have mentioned do have different MS Windows equivalents, many which are, by the way, better. Here are some linux applications which have NO comparison whatsoever in MS Windows. deMon2K - Quantum chemistry DFT simulations program molden - quantum chemistry calculation visualization software cuteMol - Quality publication like images for molecules eclipse trader - Free stock analysis software (there are lots of these programs for windows but none of the free ones have a glimpse of the functionality of Eclipse Trader)
