I am back! Stupid Internet!

Ughhhhhhh!!! I think it nearly killed me! Five days without the internet! My internet went down Thursday and they just fixed it today. I thought when it went down Thursday that it would fix itself like it always does but no it was still not working Friday. I called and they said they couldn't send anyone until Monday. I kept going and unpluging the modem and plugging it back in just hoping that it would start working again. Has anyone else had to go this long without the internet and felt like they were going to die? I think it was mostly the boredom that was killing me :) I missed everyone and I am going to do my best to get caught up on all of your discussions, in fact I am going to get started right now....

Thanks it is my friend's baby Nova Lea! Even though my computer is fixed I have still been MIA. I think partially because of selling on Ebay and partially because of more summer things to do, like BBQing with my friends.

i know how you feel, sometimes it just is like the most horrible thing in the world to not have the internet... There was this one month, i couldn't afford it so i didn't have the net at all, haha i called about 10 different companies, even dial up to see if i could get it through them, but i just couldn't do it, and it was probably one of the hardest of my life haha... I was having net problems for a while not long ago, well still kinda am, but the net was out completely, it only lasted about 36 hours, but i called one of my friends and he picked on me because i was having internet withdrawls haha, meany, but i know how it feels, it's too bad things weren't free eh? And always working?

I know I wish that my cable was free, I haven't even paid the bill for this month yet. I know that I drive my friends and family nuts when I don't have the internet because I am calling them all the time :)

Five Days, Wow I bet you are having withdrawal symptoms. LOL I miss the intenet if I have to go a day without it. LOL I am glad you are back and on mylot again. I need to go catch up on my best response too but I am really getting tired of picking best response and then the next day the discussion is back in my unresolved discussions.

I am tired of having to repick them too! Even if the person is no longer with us and they gave the best response they should still get to keep it. Best response is just that best response, not the best out of who is still left here! Ughh! lol!

Ha! You had it easy! :-) I just got back after a computer virus shut me down for a month. I really felt shut off from the world. I kept starting sentences with "I'll look it up on the 'net" only to realize that there was NO NET! Not for me anyway. We tried everything to rid our computer of the virus, no such luck. Finally had to buy a new computer. My son has a laptop and a pc but his room is so crowded (he has a home music studio) I never go in there. Anyway, welcome back!

Wow! I don't think I would've survived a whole month without service. It just irks me that the motto for my cable company is "always on" and it was "always off" for 5 freaking days!

Welcome back! I thought there was something missing in the discussions! Yes, I had to deal with that so often where I used to live. We had dial up and it was so hard to even get connected I ended up just giving up most times. So, yes, I know how you feel! It is very frustrating!

I don't blame you for not considering it when you got your new computer. It is awful! LOL, you would rather write a letter and mail it than have to sit there and wait for it to connect and then downloading was an absolute nightmare lol! Just glad to see your back!

I must agree with your experience - to go five days without the internet would be quite a shock to the normal routine. There would be some good from having the break, but it would be missed very often. Glad you are back online. Guess it answers the question if internet access is optional.

Welcome back hon, I was wondering why I hadn't seen you around in a while!! I've actually been without the internet longer than that before - 2 weeks to be exact and it was a nightmare lol. Our apartment suffered a power surge the day after Boxing Day last year, (There was a huge fire in the other building here and so power was turned off. When it was turned back on, we got hit by a surge) and it fried our PC power supply. I wasn't able to let any of my friends know that our PC was fried, and when I went to the library 10 days after we got hit, I had dozens of emails from concerned friends lol. Trying to find something to do and keep the kids occupied at the same time was horrendous, and to boot, we had a whole lot of snow so we couldn't really go out anywhere much. It was nice when we were able to get a new power supply a couple of days later.

How horrible for you! I really would be nuts if I had to go for 2 weeks without my internet service. I hope that nothing happens to my computer like what happened to yours. I think I would probably cry :)

Wow 5 days without Internet! That's long...hehe..I can't live without Internet. Even if my house's Internet was down, I would go to the cybercafe to check on my emails, the latest news and etc. I will be very frustated if my Internet's down. I'll bang my modem and my PC. Previously, when I was using dial-up, I always had trouble connecting to the Internet. I would be in bad mood whole day. What can I say .... I'm addicted to Internet....;)

Yeah it can feel aweful if you just can't do without it. One suddenly realises how much internet and mylot has become part of our lives. When my internet connection was working for few days i just tried to manage my time by listening to music reading newspapers, doing other things, watching TV it is not the same thing. He he. Welcome back and congrats on getting your internet connection back. Have a great day folks. :)

Yes its not easy when your computer goes down for a while as there is so much to catch up on. Not to mention the boredom that we put ourselves through for not being able to respond to anyone. Have a nice day from Deeeky.

Hi there! I could only imagine. The most that I was without internet was just 72 hours, and we called the company like 100 times! In my area, I don't get to pick up a good connection so there are times of the day that my connection goes on and off and that drives me crazy and can make me really angry specially when I'm at something important. So five days is a lot for me.

LOL I know exactly how you feel! Several years ago our phone line was hit by lightening and we had 8 days of no internet. On day 7 I resorted to the public library. The woman wasn't sure they'd have space for me to use one of their online computers. I got right up in front of her and told her I only NEEDED (!!!) it for 10 minutes!! She cleared one for me and 10 minutes later I was fine lol. I think its an addictive thing lol.

I can totally understand your feeling. When my computer doesn't work for a day, I already feel uncomfortable. If the computer can work but it is without internet, then it'll also kill me.
