Quarter of an hour of absolute quiet in every 24 hrs.should be practiced.Go alone for 15 min. don't talk to anyone, don't write, don't read.Think as little as possible.Throw your mind into neutral.Conceive of your mind as inactive....Begin to listen fot the deeper sound of harmony that are found in the essence of silence..... Follow that to gain peace of mind ,what's your view?

I do this very often; for longer than fifteen minutes most times. I also meditate and you're right, peace of mind can be gained from it, and it's very calming and beneficial to the nervous system. Some people find it very difficult to close off their minds from normal, everyday sounds, and thoughts, but if you can do it, it's well worth the effort. Brightest Blessings.

I agree fully with the quiet daily. I do something along these lines. It's called Transcendental Meditation. It was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1958. The Transcendental Meditation technique is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and it enriches all areas of life. Doesn't take much from a person other than total commitment at the time of meditating. Heres a link you may want to visit along these lines. have a great day/evening. http://www.tm.org/ HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
