to all my friends

May 16, 2007 6:01pm CST
i got my account paused for to days because i was posted a referral link on here and your not aloud to do that,so my bad on that.when i emailed mylot about why i could post anything this is the repley i got back "Your account was paused due to the fact that we were alerted that you were posting referral links to another site you are a member of which is only allowed to be posted on your profile page. You also had several posts that were jokes which we do not approve of and a lot of your comments were of "thanks for the reply", "thanks for the best response" and "nice comment". If you continue to do these things as we have asked you not to do your account will be cancelled without further warning. Best regards, myLot Staff"so i will have to be more carfull in future on what i post

I guess it's just a matter of if you have been reported or not and probably how many times ... plus it's not because a lot do it that it is a good thing as it is clearly stated in mylot guidelines not to post any referral links in the discussions If everyone would jump off the bridge, woudl you do it too ?!

According to the rules you are supposed to post the link if you are quoting from the internet. This shows that you have not plagarized someone elses words and as a basis for the info you are giving.

I really can´t understand what´s wrong with posting "thank you" comments. In which way does it harm the site if we post thanks comments in our own discussions? Or did I get something wrong?

Yes I heard they toughened their policies It's a good thing you only had a warning I think from now on you need to study more closely the guidelines and stay away from any "borderline" behavior if you want to keep your account Happy you are back though - Welcome back

Wow! I wondered why I hadn't seen anything by you for a little while. They are really getting strict here, aren't they? Although I didn't always read all of them, I will miss having the opportunity to read your jokes. You will have to sandwich them into another discussion topic. Maybe something like "Do you get insulted by blond jokes like this one?" or something like that. Do be careful, though. I wouldn't want to lose you on the site.

yes i had read in the rules that we should not post our referrals link , we only can pm it or post it in our personals , and also they mention that we can't post link also in the responds , i think that they are not the only one who do that , but i don't know if we can post our personal site in our thread or it is forbidden too ?!

Wow I was wondering when they would get to you about the jokes. What a shame as you gave me some of my best laughs when I needed to be cheered up . I have lost quite a few points on responding to jokes (not just yours) but I only responded to one that really tickled me so I dont care.

I am glad you are back. The phrase that caught my eye was: "due to the fact that we were alerted". I think that pretty much describes what has happened to you and what is happening to other members as well.

Oh my! this is sad news, I loved your jokes!!! I guess I'm next! Because I posted links through my pm, to a friend and the next minute it landed up in a discussion, luckily they can trace it, because I complained about it. Will have to wait and see. Thanks for letting us know my friend, Love Annie xx

Glad you are back. I hope you did not lose much money. This site would not be the same without people like you on here. It is getting rather big so perhaps that is why they are tightening up on referral links etc.

This is just a thought I had. Maybe MyLot should start a referral link section where people can post referral links for a slight fee - say 5 cents to be deducted from their account. This would allow people to post links if they want to and it could make a little money for MyLot if they do.

It seems that excessively posting jokes & recipes is also against the MyLot guidelines. If it is, why is it not listed in there? It is true that many receipes & jokes are merely copied & pasted, & maybe, some of them could also be copyrighted material. However, it is true that new jokes & new recipes do come out all the time, some may have even been thought of & tried out by the MyLot member posting it. I have heard of people who have gotten banned & restarted for excessive jokes, but they only found out the hard way, & had to start over. If MyLot doesn't want excessive jokes & recipes, why is it not in the guidelines? Mylot should either send out another alert, update their guidelines, or stop punishing people who violate untold rules.

I think you were probably very lucky, you could easily have lost your account completely. I understand that the guidelines have been undated, and perhaps we should all be checking them now and again.
