Being a person healthy with strict diets to follow all your life and die as a healthy person who avoids many kinds of delicious foods? OR Or a person who can taste every kind of delicacies in this world and die as a person from some illness? My opinion is a person only can only live once, enjoy live and do what ever you wish... that including "eating"...

I can agree with that, but what if what you are eating is causing you problems? I say this because I have a sugar intolerance and whilst enjoy eating something really sweet, a few hours later I develop a headache and severe fatigue. If I do not eat too many foods that contain sugar, I feel fine, so I gave it up. At first, I missed eating the sugar-laden food, but now I don't miss it at all. I am of the view, that when it is time to die, it would be nice just to fall asleep one day and never wake up again, but I will have to accept my karma and what will be will be.. :-)

i think that should be balance... for me, i want to balance up my life... even though i know that i only live once, i can't destroy my body by eating unhealthy food and die because of it... i am responsible to God my Creator because as the Bible says our body is His Holy dwelling place... He dwells inside our body and therefore if we don't take care of our body properly, He will be very upset... and to define the meaning of enjoy, we have to go back again to God because He is our only source of joy and we can only find true enjoyment in Him and nowhere else... finally, as we only have limited time to live in this world, we have to maximise our time to the fullest to serve Him as much as we can when He still gives us the opportunity... this is my opinion...

That is a hard decision! I love food and love to eat many kinds of food and many that are not good for me, lol but I would not want to die from it! But I hate diets, I would want the freedom to eat whatever I please and live life the way I want! So ultimately I would choose to eat what I please...did you mean though, that you would die a lot sooner than the person who eats healthy? or to just die from an illness?

Your opinion is correct.A person can only live once that is correct,I agree with you. But if you have any health problem then you have to have eating restriction. You can not eat anything and everything. And sometimes it so happens that even after following strict diets one can have health problem. So then what to do? I would rather follow some diet restriction and sometimes can be little relaxing. One can always find the middle path.So eat with some restriction and enjoy life as it not sure you will die as a healthy person or a person with diseases.

we can always have a healthy compromise when it ocmes to food. there are so many delicious and nutritious foods around. go for it. be healthy while eating a lot of delicious foods. besides most foods can pose some danger to our health if we over indulge. in other words, we can always eat most of the foods that we want in moderation. so let us have our fill of foods in healthy amounts. then we can live in this world more comfortably with less pains and sickness to deal with.

It's not that black and white. it's possible to live in the grey. I am vegan and I try to eat healthy foods, but I still eat my desserts and snack on unhealthy foods. I eat a big healthy salad and then I eat a bag of chips, you can have both ya know.

Oh, Augustta, why do you have to post such hard question?:) I love to eat and I'll eat anything edible but I want to live a long, healthy life. Now, I'm in a dilemma!

Hello Augustta, the best thing to remember when dealing with healthy eating is eat smart and in moderation. That means know what is good and bad for you and control the quantity of your food intake. It is not easy to do but with good discipline, it is achievable.

I think we can enjoy things without going overboard. For instance I love chocolate, but I need to lose weight. So I haven't just quit eating chocolate, but have cut back. And, am trying different ways of getting chocolate with something healthy. Like strawberries dipped in chocolate, instead of a candy bar.

Hey Augustta, I think you're right that you should just enjoy your life and not worry too much about what's good for and what's bad for you - it's such a waste of valuable time! I believe that your priorities change and ask any grand parent what they want: I'm sure they'll tell you that they look after themselves more in later life because they've realised that the longer they live the more time they'll get to spend with their grand kids :) Be happy. www.AddAnImage.com www.NigelPond.com

I don't think one should make a choice - one can live a very healthy life without strict diets and avoiding anything. I live a very healthy life, but I eat the greatest amount of pizza and chocolate you'll ever see in your life. People think they have to choose between the two, because they weren't told about another option. Do you want to know about an option to live a healthy life without avoidance or strict diets?

Hi Augustta, I totally agree with you. I think that we should enjoy eating, and to enjoy eating we need to eat what we want. Just eat in moderation.

I am a soon to be 55 year old FabGrandma. I have had type II diabetes for 7 years, and just recently found out that I have an intolerance to gluten, which is found in wheat products. After I was diagnosed with diabetes, I cut sugar out of my diet and have tried to eat a healthy balance of foods. I have my blood sugar under control, and I feel better too. When I found out last month that I might be gluten intolerant, because other members of my family are and it is 95% hereditary, I decided to try a gluten free diet for two weeks, just to see if I would feel better. After just 3 days, most of the things that had been bothering me had disappeared! Although I can not eat wheat breads, spaghetti, macaroni, or any other wheat pastas, it is not the end of the world. The symptoms I had when I ate them were more of a disadvantage than were the advantages of eating them. So, yeah, I will give up certain foods, rather than give up my health. Yes, I will die of something sooner or later, but why would I want to eat something that has the potential to make me poop in my pants in public (which happened twice in the last year) just so I could eat a sandwich? Not a good trade off for me.
