my daughter is starting school in the fall. right now she is going once a week for a special school rediness program but it's only for seven weeks so she won't get anything for that but i do think i will be giving her something at the end of every school year. i think it's a way to congratulate them and celebrate a new chapter in their lives as they will be moving onto a new grade. not sure what type of stuff i'll give her but nothing too big.

We did this but it was mainly a victory that school was out for the summer. I would usually ask the girls what they wanted. We did goldfish one year, a parakeet and a hamster another year.

We celebrate the ending of the school year by taking the kids out to a nice dinner where they can order fancy drinks, lots of appetizers, dinner and desserts. It isn't for passing up to the next grade, it is more for doing their best in their school work.

We might celebrate the end of the school year by having ice cream, but I don't reward my kids for things that come easily to them. When they have to work really hard at something, I praise the effort; not necessarily the result.
