Gas is as high as it was at the time of hurricane Katrina! Whats driving it up? What will happen to our lives when this is reflected in food costs, everything will cost more! Businesses will suffer, or go Bankrupt! Will people go hungry! People are still driving as much or more than ever! 2 or 3 cars at every house! What will be the final outcome? Where are we headed? Will the gas companys take over the country when they finally get All the money?

To be perfectly honest with you... you'll cope! Your gas prices are way lower than in the UK, as we have to pay yet more famous British taxes on gas, and that's on top of road fund licence, insurance, mot, and the like... we pay over £5 sterling for our gas, which is way and above the price in Canada. Also, the rate of inflation on foodstuffs and other commodities is rising rapidly, whilst earnings are kept at a maximum 4% rise per year, and that's only if you're very lucky. However, we have to use our cars to get to work, and to the shops etc., so we have to find a way of coping, which I know you will too. Have faith my friend... all will work out well.

i don't know, the economy will be affected but not until alot of people complain. we just sit back and take it. i write my senators and state reps all the time. They eventually write back with some dumb explanation that they get from some higher up too. I read in a newsweek that the price of oil would be 90$ in order for it to be 3 dollars a gallon...so lets see-its only hovering around the high 60's right now.. so guess who is making profits? funny huh? well, pretty soon the whole country and economy will be making major changes. I see very bad things coming from the oil companies greed.

Even at $3 it's only about a third, or less than a third of what we pay. I don't know what the earnings are out there, but I know you have to drive a lot further to get anywhere, and probably your cars are quite a lot larger than ours, so use more gas. As for politicians, I think they have a book of excuses, on just about everything! ha ha ha. I think a lot of the gas price increases are due to the higher price of oil, and it all comes back to the middle east wars. There's not much Joe Public can do about that... it's down to the countries' leaders who are involved with it. Our prices went up recently too. :-( I wish you luck in your fight anyway. It needs the whole country to boycott the Big Boys in the gas supply trade, even for just twenty four hours.

yeah ur right!....our gas hit $1.13.9 today which is more than $4.00/gallon American. And we do have much further to drive....(the whole UK would fit into Lake Ontario) I'm sure we will find a way! Thanx 4 your comment!

I hope the gas prices drop soon but It doesnt sound like that is going to happen. Greed is what is driving up the prices. The big oil companies could care less about us little people. We have only one car. My husband drives it to work. THe only other place we go is to church on the weekends. WE stop at the grocery store after church and buy the weeks worth of groceries. We have had to cut our food budget to 35.00 a week to pay for gas. We have also shut off our cable tv service and our internet server. I am picking up a wireless connection from somewhere for free. If gas prices get much higher we will be living on ramen noodles and rice and beans.

yeah this is good in one respect! the gas guzzlers will soon be off the roads in favor of new concept cars. This will take time but will be worth the wait.so in that respect big oil is shooting its self in the foot.... Hang in there its gotta get better1 Thanx 4 your input!
