Can We No Longer Think For OURSELVES?

As a young adult I am sick of being told what to think, what is the correct way to do things, people always seeking help from so called professionals because they have lost the will to think for themselves. What has this world turned into. I have just watched Dr Phil with parents who just cannot think for themselves and constantly need advise from others. How on earth did we survive as a race before Oprah, Dr Phil, Supernanny and all the other money making fools who decide to tell us how to think and feel. What do you feel. Can you live your life by your own mistakes and conquests or do you constantly have to turn to a professional or self-help book to show you what to do! I feel we need to start thinking for ourselves and taking responsibility for our own actions, some people are just bottle fed their whole lives and just cannot make a decision on there own! Not only do we need freedom of speech we also need freedom of mind. I would love to hear your opinions.

You're so lucky to have learned this at a young age. I was 50 years old when I realized what you know. There were moments of understanding all is garbage, but now...well, you and I are in total agreement on this issue. I do believe this goes along with controlling the masses. If we all think a certain way then their point is made. Society wants cookie-cutter personalities, so we can get along. I won't buckle and conform at all. FREE THINKERS UNITE!

Carly, you were lucky to be of a generation that did have freedom of mind as you recognise what a load of bull this is nowadays. It definately is a way of controlling the masses, but thankfully not all of us. I am with you on this one and will not conform or pop a pill to desensitize my thoughts and feelings, which is what we are doing to our kids today. Thanks for your wise words, much appreciated.

I agree with your comments. unfortunately being told what to do, by the state, authorities etc is par for the course . I myself have turned to self -help practices because eventually everything you know fails when enough pressure is applied. A lot of people turn to people like Oprah, Dr Phil because they identify with it and feel like they belong to something(screwey huh)but there are a lot ofpeople out there who could do with the help !!Sometimes our own intellect can be our prison! We do need freedom of speech(whatever's left of it in this Politically Correct World Gone Mad) and freedom of mind, but you only get freedom of mind when you switch it off!its easier to let someone else do the thinkin Lol

This is so true jim, I think my generation has grown up to always look for help before thinking for ourselves. The sad thing is, it has not helped alot of us. My cousin has had everything done for him and now he is out in the big wide world, he needs other people to find him a job, make decisions for him, etc. It really hasn't done him any favours. I am so glad I have been brought up in a family that has made me stand on my own two feet and have freedom of mind. We need it more than ever in this world today. Thanks for your comments, you speak wise words my friend!

I am the kind of person who avoids doctors at all cost. I do not feel that everything they say is the truth. I can make my own desicions without a professional saying maybe you should try this. With my daughter the doctor made suggestions to me and I was like ok, but I did what "I" thouht was right now what she said, because she is the doctor.

Good on you. I agree, listen to their advise, but at the end of the day have the know how to think for yourself and come to the decision that you feel is right. I just don't understand why so many of us have to be spoon fed by so called professionals, who in my opinion do not always have the correct answers. Thanks MrsWickham.
