Do we have to be overly cautious about the discussions we start?

I'm finding myself feeling like I have to end my discussions with a ps to cover my butt so that readers will realize that these are my personal opinions and thoughts and I'm not looking for an argument. It seems no matter what I discuss someone is going to be offended and rip into me for feeling the way I do. I try not to feel this way but I'm human and have feelings just like the next person. I certainly wouldn't want to make someone feel bad about anything they had to say no matter how I felt about it. Am I the only one who has these feelings? It's like "walking on egg shells"....lol...so to speak. I get to the point where I think I'm not going to start any more discussions and then I think why should I let a few people get in the way of me making a few cents? Ridiculous right? Has anyone else felt this way? Have you given up or even don't even start your own discussions any more because of these reasons?

At times I feel like this, walking on egg shells, but I've figured out, your never going to please everyone so if someone gets upset or attachs I'm sorry but I am sharing my opinions, I have that right just as much as they have the right to disagree with me.

You know the old saying "you can please some of the people some of the time...." and that surely applies here doesn't it.

Yep that's it - I've kinda learned though there are people here that all they want to do is create trouble - when I spot one of those it's easiest just to ignore them, which isn't always easy but I just have to bite my tongue ok tie up my fingers (so I can't type) then I PM a friend and vent to one of them.

i wouldn't say so,this forum unlike many others seems to be extremely friendly and I have yet to see a negative remark made about anyone or anybody

Yes, most members here are very friendly but take some discussions a little more seriously than I think they should.

Things here on myLot have been getting very wary as of late. Not alone with the rude remarks and responses but also all the deleted discussions earnings and points. Also it seems the rating system has been very much abused. So I avoid any topic that may be in violation of the guidelines and try to have fun making my measly pennies a day. HAPPT POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I just love making my measly pennies a day. It's sort of like my change jar...the pennies keep adding up.

I don't think you should be overly cautious as long as you follow the guidelines. Some people will be offended no matter what we say. That is their problem not ours.

I start my own discussions, but I see what you mean! I am careful with subject matter as the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. People can be very malicious on here and they will start an argument, rate you negatively or even worse report you. I thought the whole point of having a discussion was to share and resolve conflicting views, but apparently a "discussion" is just a bunch of people replying saying "oh yeah I totally agree with you." Pah.

I don't worry about what I say or the questions I ask. I am here to give my honest opinion. I know that there are people here that disagree with me. Its their right to disagree and I have no problem with that. Its nice to hear someone elses thought on different matters. I have had a few people who have ripped me a new one because they didn't like my opinion. It hasn't made me stop starting new discussions. If I think of a discussion that I want to start then I do so.
