So Confusing and Hectic! What to Do!?

There are two things I want to do with my life, but I have to choose one or the other because either will take up a lot of my time. I either want to write (stories, fiction, novels, etc.) or I want t act on tv/film. A while ago all I wanted to do was act. I was very excited with the whole idea! But now lately...writing seems like the more popular choice right now. I still have an interest in acting, but I just don't know which to choose! I am running out of time to decide too! I am going to sign up for an online writing class, but today was my last day of highschool. I graduate the 25th....how do I decide?!

Why not think of combining the two? Since you love to write, and you love to act...ever thought of writing scripts??--I think that would solve and satisfy both your "muses"

I have a part of a script written, but I am better at writing novel style because that allows you to be more descriptive. Scripts call for you to be direct and quik in telling the story, I'm not very good at that. Although my dad says I am really good with the dialogue.

hi lilyothethorns! education is a must if i were you attend first the graduation and after graduating you can continue what you want to do..if you cant do it on an online writing class now maybe its not you're time.. you're too young and still have many opportunities that will come to you specially when you are a degree holder.. so prioritise your study..

WOw your just like me but I wanted to write first but know I want to act more. My advice for you would be to act and write in your free time that way your doing two things your love at once

Listen to your heart. It will lead you in the right direction. There is always the possibility of doing both. While either one takes a lot of time, you can use your down time for the other. It's a thought. Congratulations on your graduation!

Thank you very much. I appreciate your response! Right now I think my heart is leaning more towards writing, because I won't have to worry about my shyness lol.

They are both difficult spheres to get into to make a living from. Acting is probably better to start when young as you could still be writing during acting 'breaks' or after your career. If you write well you could be well known for longer but probably only by name. So, it also depends on what type of fame you want. Best of luck whichever you choose.

Your decision can only be yours to make. You need to follow your heart, go with what interests you most and still leave room to dabble in the other. Yes, your choices will take up a big chunk of your time but neither will fill it all. You can focus on one more and still entertain the other one too.

I think it would be good to pick one and perfect that. Since you mentioned you wouldn't have time to do both. The only person that can really make that kind of decision is yourself. Have your writen anything or gotten anything published if you have. What do you feel stronger about acting or writing? Those are questions I would be asking myself. You can choose the one and work on that full time and than latter once that is perfected you can always go to the other and work on that.
