Have you ever been devastated by the loss of a pet?

I am coming up on a year of the day that I lost my four legged best friend. She was the reason that I was able to get up some mornings when things were really bad. She passed away from a brain tumor and suffered with seizures because of it. I still feel really guilty for letting her go so long with it. I really thought she would get better with the medications she was on. I still have those nights where I hear her howling during her last seizure. I did everything I could to try and stop it at the moment. I am a vet tech and was giving her valium to stop the episodes but nothing worked. I was and have been devastated over her death. Have you ever experienced devastation due to the loss of a pet?

I am so sorry for your loss. And yes, I have been devestated by the loss of a pet. As a matter of fact, its been seven months today that the dog in my avatar got hit and killed by a car. I was just thinking about him when I saw your post. I go out and talk to him everyday and I knew I would cry today. The pain isn't as bad as it was but I am still upset over it at times.

I'm sorry you lost your baby too! I know the pain fades but it is still tucked away only to appear again every once and a while. Thank you for sharing.

yes, my tears are welling from my eyes, too. these pets are so dear to us, we will miss them so much. they have a place in our hearts which have become a void because of their passing. but life is like that, we lose them after sometime...to age, to accidents, sometimes to the wrongdoings of some men around us.

yes, i have been through this five times in my life already. the first one was a lady i named fabie after my aunt who had presented it to me for a gift. then bernie followed, a neighbor gave him to me. he is the most loyal one that i can recall. colgate is the third one, he was so protective of us, so big and so strong. black is a lady so beautiful and is willing to give her life for us if somebody comes suspiciously. and the last one was harry after harry potter. i love him, i love him so much. every member of the family holds him as a treasure.

Thank you for sharing with me. I guess every time you open your heart to love the possibility of getting hurt is there. I love having a companion dog but I have never been so sad from losing one. This has prevented me from getting to close to the one I have now (in the picture), even though she is spoiled on a daily basis.
