cycling of discussions

I have been here for just over a month, but I have already noticed that some topics seem to cycle over and over. A lot of times it is a new user who brings up a topic, but at times it is someone who has been here who reposts a topic, either to get more response about a topic or to see if there are any new ideas on it. I see no problem with it as I enjoy the new input into a topic that has stopped getting response due to it being an 'old' topic. I see a lot of repitition of spiritiual and life topics. What topics do you see getting repeated?

I agree with pyschodude. I think people should do searches on discussions before they start the same one that has been posted a hundred times. Especially when two different people post the exact same discussion on the same day. That tells me they aren't even looking at the discussions.

Topics in pretty much every field, there's not really any limit to them. In my opinion it'd be more worthy if they'd simply search and add their view to the older topic being available, when people check in recent discussions they get to see it show up to continue on it again as well.

Absolutely,. When I first came to MyLot I didn't know how to do the searches, but now I do. Before creating a new discussion I look to see if there's anything else in the same genre. I also look to see how many people may be "interested" in a particular topic. Sometimes posting in a topic that only one person is interested in may not get you as many responses as a more general topic that lots of people are interested in. Of course, keywords are important, and I try to make them as perfect as possible. It helps having been a librarian! What I think should be done is the admins should look over all new topics, see if there has been a topic like it, and post a redirect in that topic to the oldest discussion, if there is one. Likewise, it would be better if we members could be trusted to redirect a topic if it's been chatted upon hundreds of times already. This is acceptable at most bboards and is a useful tool for discouraging repeat posting.

Hello, Darlinggirl. Actually, I met some similat problems in mylot. I don't use the searches since I've been here because I didn't know how to do it. But I think it will be helpful for us if we use it. Could you tell me how to make keywords as perfect as possible? Thank you in advance. :)
