Dancing With Now. Is This You?

I get certain things in my email that I think are worth posting here and this is one of them. It makes a person think about the effect problems have on your life. I let the problems that are in the past stay there. I would rather say this is a new day and a new slate. What things are going to be on my slate at the end of the day. I don't let problems from the past interfere with the present. I consider those learning experiences and move on. Dancing With Now Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. — Ralph Waldo Emerson Have you ever noticed how many people carry the past with them everywhere they go? For some it becomes a cross to bear, for others a badge of honor, for others still a wound in constant need of tending, and for others, a prison sentence from which there is no appeal. Life was never meant to be lived in past tense. It is meant to be met head on and embraced like a loved one in the ever present NOW. This very moment is the only one over which we have control and if we're too busy looking back on what once was we risking missing what is entirely. How much more delightful our lives become when we let the past stay behind us and concentrate, instead, on spending the present well. May the past be left behind as you dance delightfully into the future embraced by the present moment.

I once heard that problems or troubles are to us like a flea is to a dog. It makes the dog jump up and chase a rabbit where normally he might spend the day sleeping. Troubles give us opportunities to "jump up" and get going with life. It keeps us fresh and invites new things into our lives. You must deal with them then let it go, but in the process keep your eyes wide open for an opportunity you might miss if you had been sleeping. And yes, I have actually left behind someone who carries their problems everywhere and involves people in her tiresome, continious conversations about her past. So Dance!

Very well said and I totally agree. I also have left a person behind who can't seem to get past things that have gone on on her past. I believe in deal with and go on living. Thanks for your well thought out response.

Your Welcome. Sometimes I am slow in getting back to my discussions but I always will get back. I like reading what people have to say and like posting some of the things I get in the email. The ones that people will get something out of.

the past is what helped shaped who we are today, it has an important place in human development. If you use your past to draw on experience or learn from a mistake or change something about yourself that needs to be changed. It can be a wonderful tool to make your present and future better.

I agree with that saying and I like it very much. We must embrace each day with new and happy thoughts. And be thankful to have a tommorrow.

Good points. This is one of those things that is easy to say, and sometimes hard to do. We all have something in our past that has colored who and what we are today. Most of us try not to get bogged down in "what ifs" or "should haves", but what happened usually can't be forgotten. You just learn to realize it happened, and that in a perfect world, you might have made a better choice, but you learn to move on with time. Thanks for the reminder. Dancing into the future sounds like fun!

I do try to live my life by this quotation and my faith. I know I have made mistakes in my past and I can only hope I have learned from them.

That is truly awe inspiring and the truth above all. I am grateful for everday I awake healthy and thank the good Lord for being with me through each and every one of them. blunders and absurdities certainly fit me a tee ROFLMAO Especially today LOL It is always easy to say to forget the past. In some cases it is ever so hard to do. Not that I let it get me down but simply cause it is just there and not a thing I can do about it. I refuse to let it surface and live in my future or my day Although at times it does give me a rude awakening. Whether I want it to or not. I live for the day not the past. Look forward to the future with new and vigourous energy that comes from within. My past has given me the this inner strength to do just that Your post post was in perfect timing and just what I needed to again lift my spirits to soaring heights Wendy

I am really glad too I wasn't refering to making mistakes (I never make the same one twice) Well OK maybe a couple of times LOL I was talking about the past changing me into the person I am now. It has given me courage, inner strength (I didn't know I had) and strong will to Live. It has made slow down and appreciate mother earth and all the good things in life. The things that no amount of money can buy. For that I am thankful Wendy

I am glad that this post helped you out. There are things in my past that I find it hard to forget but I do not let it influence my present. I have learned from some of my mistakes and proceed forward. The only thing looking back does for me is to keep me from making the same mistakes over again.
