I am truly amazed that drinking coffee causes someone to have a poor memory. I have told my fiancee that I was told as a child that drining coffee was surpose to cause a person to be short. She informed me that she always drank coffee with her parents as a young child and she doesn't feel that 5'7 is short. Well, she is able to remember more information then I am so I am not sure that I believe young children will have porr memories either.

I have never let my children drink coffee. I do know of another mother who does though. Her son has ADHD, like mine. She reasons that since the doctor prescribes a stimulant for the ADHD, the caffeine in coffee should have the same effect. She claims that it does help, and suggested that I try it. I told her that I would pass on the idea unless a doctor tells me to try it unless a doctor was to suggest it.

hello kelly, since your kid has adhd , it would not hurt if you try him or her on a magnet.research on it and get for yourself because a friend of mine has a child with adhd and it made her child manageable and she was very thankful for NIKKEN. if you can connect yourself with any NIKKEN distributors in your country ,do so.and attend their seminars, you might earn some on the side. it really works .not only for your child but for everyone as well with ailments.it basically makes our blood circulates normally and thus making our body functions well.god bless.

I don't think any children like the taste of coffee so I don't think it's a matter of allowing or not :-)

I don't really allow my children to drink coffee. However, as kids, they have the tendency to want coffee since they could always see me drink coffee. I just give them Milo instead and tell them that its coffee and they don't know any better. He he he!

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but in America, most parents let their little kids have coffee. But, it's not uncommon for teens to go out to cafes or the mall and buy latte, espresso and any other kind of strong coffee they can find. I had heard that it's possible that coffee could be linked to development of cardiovascular disease. i hope not. I was a coffee drinker for years. Drank coffee since my teens. Just boring old tea for me now. Occasionally i let my own kid have decaffinated tea, and that is comforting to her. I hope she never gets into the coffee habit. It's not easy to break.

I would never let my children drink coffee at a young at. I don't think I would be comfortable with them drinking it when they become teens either. I know if my middle child got hold of coffee she would be going up the wall even more then she already is.

I've been drinking coffee since about 4 years old and perhaps that's what's wrong with me. I have a horrible memory!

My toddler has just picked up a spoon which was being used to stir the coffee her father drank, she declared that Papa's coffee doesn't taste good. I am not a coffee drinker and definitely, I will not encourage my children to drink coffee as such an early age. I even avoided drinks with caffeine or sugar on it because kids tend to be overactive when they have these on their system. I don't need a jumping bean the whole day. I got my hands full as is already.

I agree coffee is not good for children. But introducing different tastes to children is not bad. Tomorrow, when the child has to go any where, it is difficult if he is particular for any given thing. So let him get used to all. Therefore I add little dicaction to the milk and make it light coffee and give little of that. In my house all are coffee addicts and children, when born only, love to have one drop of coffee on the lips.

If we, adults are aware of the harm given by caffeine how much more on young ones. Maybe its best that we try to convince our kids to stay healthy by drinking liquids that are suited for their young bodies.

I use to drink coffee with my parents when I was a young child. They would turn their back and I would swipe a drink. When I was about 5 I just started getting my own cup of coffee every morning. My parents told me that it would stunt my growth. I am 5'7 it didn't stunt my growth. I also have an excellant memory so apparently it didn't damage that either. My daughter swipes drinks of her grandmothers coffee all the time. I haven't even tried to prevent her from doing it. If you listen to everything that you are being told then there isn't anything that is good for you.

None of my kids ever wanted to drink coffee. I wouldn't let them if they did want to drink it. My husband drinks it all the time and my kids have always hated the way it smelled.

My daughter is 10 months old now and I won't let here have coffee until she is old enough. Like maybe when she is a teenager or something.

No that is not something I do. I figure they will get enough opportunities later in life to experience the world of coffee. I do not want to get them started too early:) cheers,
