I saw Ritchie Havens in a tiny theatre in Vermont about 5(?) years ago..

Boy was that great! And yes he did towards the end sing "Freedom" the one he opened Woodstock '69 with (the real one, course I was only 14 at that time - shucks). Mr Havens was just wonderful! Ballad singer.. and talker.. All so very enjoyable.. I was always gonna see if I could find an address to email to, to tell him how great it was! He put off singing "Freedom" cause he always had to sing it.. over and over all these years.. He came off as a very (very) gracious person.. I was very blessed!

the last free concert We went to was Big and Rich at the fremont experience here in Vegas . the show had all kind of singers before they came out but it was a very good show and lasted 2 hours and all for free what a great thing for them to do here!

I probably haven't been to a free concert in (yikes) thirty years! Went to some great ones though.. Lived in Maine, and every year they had an outdoor concert that lasted all weekend.. Can't remember for sure if it was for free.. but think it was.. One of them though got all muddy from rain.. just like I guess it did at Woodstock.. Considering all things.. it's a little fuzzy and almost reminds me of woodstock anyway.. Closest I got..

I've seen Havens a couple of times, once about 15 or 20 years ago, the other time about 5 years ago. He still sounded good. I live near NYC, and there are always lots of free concerts around during the summer. This is not as old as Woodstock, but last night I saw a great free concert in Brooklyn: Blondie, Pat Benatar, and The Donnas. They all sounded very good.. not bad, considering the first two acts have been around for 30 years or so!
