Do you think you can be "Christian" and still believe in certain "paranormals"?

I have my own answer to this but I'm curious what others think. No flaming here, just an adult discussion of if you think certain things which are often considered "paranormal" can be accepted by someone who's a "Christian". Why or why not? What do you think is or isn't acceptable?

Yes I think it's very possible and allowable. Of course it depends on which denomination of Christianity one follows but the ones I know of do not have a problem with accepting aspects of the paranormal. After all when you think of it demons are paranormal and with it possession and that is believed by many Christian faiths to happen. Why not other things that are paranormal?

It is a precondition to being a Christian to believe in the paranormal. Christianity is based on paranormal occurrences.

hello there. i am a Christian and i have seen a ghost. i think it is fairly normal to be like this. its not actually my fault that i have seen a ghost, it just showed itself to me. lolz. and besides, seeing a ghost doesnt make me less of a Christian. i still am firm in my faith. :) God bless!

Interesting. I honestly thought I would hear more "no way" answers from "devout" followers. I'm very surprised at the answers so far. Thanks for the comment!

Yes, I do believe you can be a Christian and still believe in paranormal. I'm a Christian. And, once I was praying really hard and I saw an angel. I, also, believe that our loved ones who have passed on can come to us in dreams. Most Christians are probably going to say it is satan trying to fool me. But, I have very strong feelings when something evil is around me, to the point that I've had to leave a room because it was such a strong feeling. I would like to know what you think.

I guess someone could be Christian (or another mainstream religion) and believe that paranormal-type incidents are the work of God. Christian beliefs can also include the real charismatic branches, like people who believe in laying on of hands, speaking in tongues, preachers who charm snakes, etc.

this is a fascinating discussion. Im not a christian but hasve been interested in the replies. Some fundementalist christians do, it seems, take every word written in the bible as literal truth. With this in mind, the only ghost is the holy ghost and the afterlife is a gift only to be granted through Jesus Christ. Any other expresion of psychic ability or paranormal experience must be against the word of the bible and therefore comes from Satan. I have come across this kind of closed-mind thinking over a number of years, and i do believe it is one of the reasons many people retard their own abilities and deny their own experiences. Someone a long time ago said it was wrong because it detracted from the blind following of what the church was teaching. What astounds me is that some people still organise their lives around what someone wrote down in a buck Thousands of years ago. Now if that isnt superstition, i dont know what is? blessed be

Yes! I do and I am a Christian. The why's are different than how the world would explain it but the paranormal still occurs. Some things I believe in and some things I don't. But the things I don't believe in doesn't necessarily become an untruth, such as UFO's.

I am a Pagan so I am going on my opinion. I would say that depends on if you follow your own mind or strictly the opinion of someone else translating the Bible for you. If you go be many teachings of different churches you would be lables heritic and excommunicated for believing in it. I personally think that if you truely believe in a Creator God, then to disbelieve in that which can not be explained is like putting God into a Bottle and telling him that he is not big enough to have created all that which is above our understanding.
