cleanliness, age appropriate games and movies, a posted schedule that is followed, emergency numbers posted in plain site such as on back of door or on refrigerator, a fenced in outdoor play area, separate rooms for ill children and healthy children, learning tools such as building blocks with lettrs on them or talking math or word games. I can think of more but I don't want to overwhelm you. My sister runs an inhome daycare center. She has 3 children of her own and takes in 5 into day care. There house is big and the entire downstairs/mainfloor is daycare and the kitchen and laudryroom and kids bathroom. The upper level is their main living quarters through out the week, bedrooms, master bath and a den/office. There is a basement apartment for guests when they have them. She also has 3 trained assistants for emergency only that meet the parents and the children right away. One is our mom. They are used in an emergency such as when an infant developed a high fever and the parent said take her to the hospital and i will meet you there. The assistant was there before she was loaded in the car to leave. Always have a backup plan for emergencies.
