What do you do when you see someone having the same avatar as you?

Do you change yours because the avatar is a part of your visual identity? Do you write that person to change his or her avatar because it was already taken? Or are you pretty ok with it and do nothing about it? I haven't seen anyone yet using my avatar but if I did I'd probably change it because I don't want to be taken for that person or that person taken for me by people who only look at the avatars (I am usually one of those people actually, it's easier for me to notice and remember the picture than the writing). How about you?

Since my avatar is a picture I took myself, if someone else has it, then they stole it from me... I'd probably write & ask them to change it, but I don't know that I'd notice that much, I've almost mistaken avatars that look nothing alike, just because they have simular colors.

I know I told you before but I absolutely love your avatar. The cats look so relaxed on that wreath :) Thank you for your comment :)

Me & Oliver - Look!!! An actual shot of ME!!! and Oliver!!!! This was taken about 2 weeks ago!
Well, the little black & white one is Oliver at almost 3 months, he's my bottle baby. The bigger one is his "uncle" Rygel, who helped us raise him from the time he was 4 weeks old. They were sitting on a stool last night licking each other's ears.

Well, if someone had my avatar he would be a thief. It would be flattering but it is a picture of my own dog, it is taken by me and there was a lot of work to change the photo into this avatar. As I can prove all that I would ask that person to change the avatar as I have a copyright on my avatar.

Considering mine is of a Lego Ghost key chain .. I don't see that being much of an issue. I would report someone if they created a similar screen name and used my avatar pic etc to try and degrade or mock me in some way. Don't laugh, I have seen that happen to other people at other sites.

Well I would hope I would never have to change my avatar--and so far haven't seen anyone else use it...I've been using mine for four years now --it's become my official avatar for everywhere....Like you I tend to recognize people by their avatars...and hate it when people keep changing them so often..I get confused!!

i usually use my picture as my avatar. might as well see myself,eh, rather some other picture :) if its not my picture, then it would have to be a picture that i took. i guess it has something to do with the fact that its my avatar, so it has to tell something about me ;)
