I was eating breakfast this morning and one of my nieces, Alyie, was sitting on my lap. Well, I burped in her face (lol) and she was like "eeeeww, you stink." And I said "no you stink!" In the middle of saying I stink again my niece goes "you don't stink, I love you. You're cute, I like the way you smell, I love everything about you." I was like (8O "I LOVE YOU BABY!" lol. I love when my niece says stuff like that. It makes me so happy! :)

How wonderful! Thanks for sharing this! It really made me laugh and smile - and I had to share it with my partner. Then I got a bit sad because you got me thinking of my niece whom I love very much - she lives far from us and I miss her. My niece is one of my favorite persons. Nothing will make me more happy than when she tells me or shows how much she loves me. They are great, arn't they?!

aww I'm sorry you don't live by your niece. My two nieces are the reason I don't want to go somewhere else for college. I couldn't imagine not being able to see them almost everyday.

We are going to move quite close to her - but it might still be some time before we are able to. her mom is very good at sending me photos, and my niece and I chat on msn video call from time to time. Not the same as seing her, but it helps a bit. I have to nephews and one more niece in the same area as well. They are smaller, and i really do not know them at all. I need a plane so I can see them more often.

It's good you will live closer to her. I hope it happens soon for you! How old is your niece? I wish I had a plane too. I would love to be able to visit my relatives in Montana more often!

Kids are so natural and say what comes to mind. There is no candy coating it either. I think the way you responded to her is really cute. I have seen adults get upset when a child says something that is really true but what has to be kept in mind is they are kids. They have not learned the art of speaking ones mind in kindness. Of course, there are a few adults like that but it is shere rudeness coming out of a adults mouth. I liked your discussion. I can imagine the smile that came on your face when she said the last.

I know it is heartwarming when a compliment comes from a sincere heart such as a child. My son says to me mommy i love you I love that you are home with me, he is 3. I think the best complimets come from children!

I have 2 nieces, Alyssa (6 yrs old) and Bea (3 yrs old) and I so adore them, as much as they adore me. A lot of times, my sister gets jealous because the 2 follow my instructions more than her! lol... I know how you feel, my nieces always say a lot of adoring words. When I was out of the country for 6 months, my nieces were always asking their grandmother on where I was and when I would be back home. Now I'm back and on the first day I came home, they stuck to me like flies on a flytrap!!! Cheers!

Thanks for sharing. Children can say the most awesome things, and usually just right when we need it, they lift our spirits.
