I always get in trouble with the amount of salt and pepper I put on my meals...lol. I put it on everything, not as much salt these days (but still heaps) but I nearly drown my poor food in the pepper. I think it just makes the meal. Is this bad (Im not a health freak), but too much salt can be bad cant it ? Do you like salt and pepper ? how much ? do you even use it (I know someone that dosnt use S & P on anything).

to much pepper gives you ulcer in the end.
to much salt makes your body retain water and ... i don't know how, causes heart condition from some point forward.

My other half never uses salt for anything but loves fresh ground pepper! I will not allow my kids more than a touch of salt and always make them taste the food properly first to make sure they need salt! The only reason I am quite so strict is because I take far too much salt and it is so hard to cut down when you get a taste for it so I would rather that they didn't get a taste for it! As for pepper mmmm to that too! xxx

Ages ago, I stopped using salt, and all was ok and eventually Iwas enjoying the natural flavour of the food. Then i was sharing with someone who used lots of salt. So I began to cook with it again and soon I was using again. I'm trying to stop again now, and I'm noticing flavours again but for some reason, yesterday I had dry biscuits with tomato and cheese and I a-salted the tomato. How weird. I also use it to cook rice and pasta but I leave it off/out of everything else.
I love black pepper. Especially freshly ground. I find it easy to overdo though, less is better in my case.
OH, I use a fair bit of soy sauce instead of salt when I cook asian dishes...is soy sauce bad for us, seeing as it's fairly salty?

I don't add salt to anyting, really. I would be a lot more heavy handed with the pepper. I have black pepper, white pepper, and chili pepper. I even have different intesnsiies of chili pepper, as I like spicey food but the rest of the family is not so keen. Salt just doesn't do it for me, though. They seem to put it in everything anyway. I even heard they add salt to instant coffee, for god's sake. Sugar, i could see, but salt? I wonder if that is true or not? You don't add salt to your coffee, do you?

hey dear don't worry, it is so easy to take care while putting in food as if the salt is less you can add later but once if during preparation it is more then your hunger and food are gone ,so take care.Estimate with spoon like for two person add 3/4 th of spoon and if it is less later add little more. Hope your problem will be solved

Hey Calais I was never one for salt or pepper. I use to cook with it some but now I only use a little pepper. I have "no salt" by misses dash that I use instead of salt now. I to remember the band salt and peppa I used to like one or two of their songs but that was it. LOL. I can't believe I just admitted that! Oh well too late now. Have a good one!
