Dear Friends, a question is coming in mind. Who can rate a discussion? If I have started a discussion and somebody replies to it...then I understand I can rate him/her..positive or negative. Can someone also take the liberaty of marking [(-) or (+)] replies to my discussions? Is there any way to check...whether I have only rated the replies to my discussions or someone else? If I read responses to someone else' discussion....can I mark it (-) or (+) (if the host has not marked it already), I mean will it be appropriate? I do not have any idea on this. My dear and knowledgable friends here please guide me. Thanks

firstly, a very pertinent post - much appreciated. i think YES. we all can rate anyone's and everyone's post since this is an open forum. i have always rated POSITIVE whenever i have found an appealing, satisfying response or a very pleasing query, irrespective of mine or others' discussion. however, i feel, rating someone negative just as we rate someone positive is not desirable. there should be a good deal of scanning and skimming in doing so and that too in our own discussions only. i believe, we should not rate someone and degrade his/her status just because he/she varies in opinion!! extreme cases, like hate speeches can be considered. thanx deepak.

Why not?I mean even if you rate the responses you get at your topic I have the right rate if I find anyone that I really like it.Also sometimes I can see a good topic but I haven't much to say or anyone else post something similar to mine.I can rate and don't post there. I did these sometimes if I haven't time to response.I mean when I'm ready to go and I fins a topic that I like I rate it.I do if some of my friends start more than 1 discussion at the day and I have time to response only at 1 for I go to my other friends too.I go to response to 1 and rate some of other. At the past i did it for you too. I mean we are free to rate here anything we like or don't.You say you can mark if the host has not marked yet,but you can.each one of us can rate some response if he want.

Oh! Aidonia...what a wonderful explaination of my question. You have really claified my doubts...and you mean to say I can rate other's discussions also...where it has not been rated by the host. I sometimes like a reply very much and feel life marking 'positive'...but somehow I was afraid and hesitant...thinking...whether this is appropriate or not. Thanks so much for enlightening me. You being a wonderful friend, philospher and guide, as always. Deepak

Anyone can rate our discussion, including people we refused to accept as our friends...what's a bummer...I know that some people play huge revenge... In the other hand...I check pictures sometimes and rate pictures but I don't know if it counts....

It is indeed becoming a subjective choice, because everyone can rate anyone as they like, whether they like the response or they dislike the person. There was a case back in February where a member always gave negative rate to Indian member. It was becoming a big issue in my community, but the person finally quit mylot.

As long as you can see a plus, minus or exclamination mark, you can rate it. Once rated, you are not able to rate anymore as the symbols are not longer available. This applies to discussions, responses and images from other myLotters. So, in a way, you can rate all responses to your discussions, other people's discussions and their responses. All except your own discussion topic!

whyaskq, thanks very much for much needed explanation to me. You have been always nice to me. What I understand...is only I can see (+) or (-). As I have already rated you positive(+), but I think when you will read my comments ...you will not be able to see that....is it? deepak

And no one knows who has rated which discussion and responses except myLot. You do not even know if anyone has rated you unless the person specifically say so.

Rating - Who is the appropriate person to rate of discussion
Dear Deepak Anyone can rate a discussion as what I have seen here in mylot .. the only exception is -- we cannot rate our own discussion or reply as + .. Any member can take the liberty of marking[(-) or (+)] replies to our discussions .. We can check whether we have only rated the replies to our discussions or someone else -- by looking at the right side .. it will show rated .. if we have rated it as + or - . If u read responses to someone else's discussion you can definitely mark it as - or + .. whether the host has marked it or not. Well I think it will be appropriate .. nothing wrong in this .. but rating a good response with - is a wrong thing.

If mylotians write good response, I give them (+). I hardly go for negative and once a while when I really see objectionable response, I give (!). I give good response to those who really write very well, understand the point, they need not appreciate my argument, even if they write negative to what I have said, if their presentation is quite interesting, I give BEST RESPONSE AWARD.

This is a good question. Naturally I rate every response, & reply, usually with a positive. I also rate discussions of others I read.

Hello, deepak, everyone could rate the discussions or replies by the other members, for those who replied to me,i would always give them positive rating, sometimes, when i was replying to others' discussions, i might give the discussions or replies positive if i thought they deserved positive ratings, but we were not able to check who gave us positive or negative rating. It may not be a good thing for us to know, if someone have given you a negative for a good reply, what will you do then? It will only create more anger in mylot.

I dont know whether those who doesnot reply to that particular discussion can mark positive or negative. I always mark positive after reading a topic before replying but never marked negative for anyone if they give annoying or irrelevant replies. since my lot has not hidden the postive & negative buttons i think we can mark for topics & replies of others eventhough if we are not replying.
