You Know You're Too Involved When ...

I invite you to finish this sentence. It can be something funny or serious. I'll start things off below. The little girl I usually babysit, was to be coming here after school today for a short time. I received a phone message from her mom this morning, asking me to take her for 11:00 a.m. as well. The reason for this, is so that her dad can drop something off, and this requires him to take a couple of hours drive one way. Here's the thing. His wife had 'totally' forgotten' that her husband (the little girl's dad) had a dentist appointment at 2:30, and it was ME that reminded her. So, the conclusion of my sentence would be ... You know you're too involved when, YOU'RE THE ONE keeping track of your neighbour's dentist's appointments. Please put 'yourself' into this situation below, and share your experiences.

you know you're too involved when... Your neighbor asks you to go to her house while she's at church and turn the oven temp. down for their afternoon dinner--which you are not invited to!

This is 'just too funny,' and it caused me to (lol) literally, and I'm still smiling. You've really captured the nature of this discussion. Thanks so much, as I really needed the laugh.

Yup, and I've done it more than once. Isn't that pathetic? LOL! Thank you for the BR. :)

I know where you're coming from, as sometimes it's really hard to say no, under certain circumstances. So, I can definitely relate to your having done this more than once.:)

I know where you are coming from there. I have helped people out in the past with their kids and in the end it has seemed I have been taken for granted, which is a shame on me, my daughter and the children involved, all is going ok when you can help but as soon as you can't the attitude changes. I am sure this is not the same as in your circumstance but definately know where you are coming from.

Actually, latsmom, I can relate to what you're saying here too. This may be another discussion sometime. In my case here, I've babysat for these neighbours since their daughter was 8 months old, and she's now 6. I'm attached to the little girl, and have sometimes felt too involved, but then the dentist appointment situation is just 'funny.':) Thanks for your response.
