I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. Romans 1:14 A shopper underestimated the total cost of her groceries, When the cahsier added up the items, the woman was $4 short. Then something unusual happened. The man behind her in the checkot lane saw her digging through her purse and motioned the clerk to put the amount on his bill. He modestly refused to give the woman his name. A few days later, the local newspaper reported that a charity organization had recieved a $4 check with the following note: " this check is for the man who helped me ot of a tight spot. I came up with th idea of giving it to you as a thank you for him". This incident illustrates a vital spiritual principle. We should feel the obligation to pass along to others the kindnesses shown to us. Lets not think that beacuse we ant repay God for saving us, we owe him nothing. We are indebted to Him for everything. The least we can dois show our appreciation by tellign others about Him. How must I owe for love divine! How much I owe that Christ is mine! But what He did for me I know, I cannot tell how much I owe. -hamilton-

This reminds me of the country song, "Chain of Love". It tells how 1 person blessed another who in turn blessed another, and so on, until at the end of the song, it was the wife of the original "blesser" who was blessed. There have been times when I did not have money and others shared thier wealth with me. Since I lacked money, I "repaid" the "debt" by blessing others with my talents and time.

When I went and looked up the lyrics to Clay Walker's "Chain of Love", I realized I was mistaken, it only tells about 3 people. It is about a man named Joe who helps an older, wealthier woman with her flat tire. When she tries to pay him, he says "You don't owe me a thing. I have been there too. Someone helped me out once, just the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here's what you do...Don't let this chain of love end with you." The song continues with this woman stopping at a diner for a cup of coffee. The waitress is a very tired looking 8-months pregnant woman. When the older woman gets her bill, she pays with a $100 bill. As the waitress goes to get her change, the woman leaves and leaves a note with the chorus (above) written on it. Then the waitree returns home and climbs into bed and whispers to her husband, "Everything's gonna be alright, I love you Joe". I tried to copy and paste the lyrics, but my rating is not high enough. Here is a website where I found the entire song: www.stlyrics.com/songs/c/claywalker847/chainoflove616441.html

Thanks for the reminder and that was a great story. A stranger helped me out once in a bus station when I was broke and nothing to feed my kid. I wished I knew then what I know now. The world would be a much better place with more people like those two people in your story.

Yes, amen! It's interesting that you came up with this, because I wrote a blog about the same topic this morning. http://wearecalled.com/blog.html He has given us things far beyond our ability to repay, but we can give Him what He wants of us in return.

Thank you, sometimes we should be reminded of these things and always keep in mind, a reminder that will push us to share Him to those who have not known Him yet. Have a nice day to you!

Really cool story. There is so much in the Bible telling us to give and teachers are constantly telling us about planting seeds of kindness. A good example. I also liked that the woman wanted to pay it back and so gave to a charity.

That was really nice of both of them. It is good to know there are still that kind of people around. People have become so self-centered and selfish, it is hard to find people like that.

Yes, the man was nice enough to bring her out of great humiliation. And her gratitude and appreciation allowed her to show this to others as well.
