It has been a very rough week, with dr. visits and hospital visits...

It's been a rough week. I had a Dr. visit the 24th and am having a med discontinued and starting to ween off of another. My request as I feel the two I am wanting to get off of are causing some of my weight and inflammation. I also got another prescription refill for my Mobic to get back on it. It is a non-steroid anti-inflammatory. The Doctor said yesterday that I definitely have Degenerative Joint Disease, djd for short. I will eventually need to see an orthopedic surgeon for my knees but not yet. I was told to loose 50 - 75 lbs. No how to loose it, no talking about it, just do it. My doctor can be real humorous and he can also be very serious. Yesterday he was being serious. He did say he wanted me to lose it by eating 3 meals a day and no snacking and taking walks daily. It is hard for me to take walks as it causes knee, leg and lower back pain almost immediately after starting out. I will try though and hopefully getting the Mobic back into my system and the other two meds out will help with that. For those of you that take Paxil, please do not just stop taking it. It is a very strong mood altering drug that affects balances in the brain. It can cause very serious reactions if you just stop taking it. I had read this on the paxil.com website and the Dr. confirmed it. So please, be careful and when you are ready to try life without it go to Dr. and let him/her know and ween yourself off gradually. I have been having vision problems also that could be allergy or eyesight. My eye Dr. visit was good today, no vision change. It's just the allergies. I was relieved. I think one of my biggest fears is loosing my eyesight. To top all this off I found out yesterday after getting home from the Dr. appt and pharmacy that my oldest daughter had been hospitalized with lower lobe pneumonia. She is 31. She is an asthmatic and a diabetic. She hasn't been feeling well but thought it was just being tired from working. She coughed up blood Friday AM and my son-in-law had to argue with her to get her to agree to go to ER. They know her there and her favorite ER Dr. was on duty. He knows her medical history well and knew what to look for. The x-ray and sounds of her lungs verified lower lobe pneumonia. So I've been checking in on her periodically and with my son-in-law. Luckily she was scheduled off work Friday thru Monday and he is off again with elbow problems that have gone to the shoulder. He is back to rehab and can go back to work June 1st. They really need prayers please. Like I said earlier, it's been a rough week.

I managed to keep my granddaughter over niht on Saturday night. My daughter got out of the hospital on Saturday afternoon. SHe is doing well and says she feels much better. She went back to work yesterday (tuesday). My granddaughter has a spot of a rash on her side and I insisted they take her to the clinic when it opened tuesday. It was ringworm. They now have medicine for it. Things seem to be calming down some. I felt pretty good Tuesday but am hurting again today. One day at a time!!

(((Tess))) I am so sorry about all your problems. It is so true when they say that when it rains, it pours. I really hope your daughter gets better and you as well. I was recently told to lose weight too. I am trying, but it seems that nothing I do works. I have pain in my knees as well. I guess the extra weight doesn't help that either...

That is what I am being told, too much weight on the joints, the knees and hips are just getting wore out too fast. Good news, my daughter is out of the hospital and bsck to work. I saw her yesterday (Tuesday) and she looked pretty good for having worked all day. She says she feels fine. Another bad news, the spot of rash on my franddaughters side is ringworm like I thought. My son-in-law got her to dr. yesterday and he prescribed an ointment to put on it. (I told them too many stray animals in the house.) I'm suppose to go camping this weekend, well there is opportunity for walking atleast, in a nice surrounding. It's suppose to be service projects at the scout camp. I won't be doing as mush as wanted too but they said there will still be plenty for me to do.

Tess, they say when it rains it pours and sounds like you are having a real storm. So sorry all this is happening to you. Hard enough to have to deal with the medical issues you have, but to have to worry about your child, grown or not, is harder still. I'll keep you in my prayers. About the walking, do you have access to a pool? Walking in water is a good work out and it is less painful as the bouyancy takes a lot of the weight off your joints. I can't walk very far, but I can spend a lot of time moving in the pool.

A storm and then some! LOL I know abou the water walking as I used to do it all of the time. Next week I am going to try to schedule a visit to the local Y Pool atleast twice a week for water walking to start to see if that will help. They have a jacuzzi type thing that has lots of hpot water jets I can use too.
