I had not heard of that story however I think it is a good example of where our food comes from. The wild hog had a better life than the cattle in the slaughter lots and houses. I would hope that it would not ALL be sausage. Maybe they will save it for chile. The head mounting is not done as much now a days however as a trophy it is a priceless thing for the kid and growing up that sense of accomplishment will prove valuable. Thanks for sharing this story with us.

sure - i'm not sure , but that's what the dad of the kid said he was going to do - 600-700 pounds of sausage to be exact. :) How does a boar grow that big? did it have a pituitary gland problem??

Boars and pigs in general do get quite large and that size is not unheard of by me. The breeders are normally larger than the ones for slaughter for our tables. Thanks for asking.

Well if it was that fat I'll bet it had a hard time trying to run away from the kid that shot it! Mmmm bacon.
