i love hot and spicy foods. but there are just times when i cant take the hotness and the spicyness of the dish, or worse, i chewed on some real hot pepper! what do i do? i down it with water. but i think it doesnt help though, i think it just helps psychologically, knowing that i am trying to put off the burning sensation by water. im just curious what really is the most effective way to drown the overspicy taste? juice? wateR? softdrink? or tea? what?

When I eat hot and spicy foods I always drink iced cold Coke. I don't know, it's just refreshing for me and I like the taste of it mixed with my spicy food.

I also like to eat hot and spicy foods. When I was younger it used to be a different story though. Your story sounds funny by the way. Water is the first thing I run to when I find my food to be too spicy. It helps me, but I have to drinks a lot of it so I won't feel the burning sensation. Soft drinks don't help at all, not even soda. Whenever I drink soda after eating something spicy, the soda tastes bitter. The same thing happens when I take juice too. It leaves a bitter taste. Now, don't get me started on tea! =O

yeah, its funny now, but when it is happening to me, oh men, it really isnt funny. its like i feel as if im a dragon which has the ability to puff fire due to the super hotness of the food! :P lolz. yeah, i know, softdrinks doesnt help, and so does tea, and much more for water! well, guess i should try those suggestions which involve milk and yogurt. :) maybe you should try it next time too. :)

I either drink a glass of milk or butter a piece of bread and eat it. Believe it or not it actually helps, and has saved me some major discomfort over a couple of run-ins with too much habanero in my favorite salsa.

I take water to pacity the heat of spices.I relish less spcicy food. It gives me a kind of statisfaction to take moderately spicy food. Some spices are good for health but some of them can be harmful also, if taken in plenty like red chillies.

Water won't do it..Drink something very sweet or even plain milk. The sweet drinks will help cool the hotness down best.

I think I've told you this before, but I just loooove spicy food! Sometimes it's really hard to handle it without a drink! In my opinion, any juice will do the job pretty well. I don't like to drink soda, because it seems to get bitter when it mixes with the spicy taste in my mouth. It's weird. And I rarely drink water while I'm eating, so I prefer juices! :)

Hi, there! I do love hot and spicy food. My level of hot and spicy is really amazing. Very seldom for me to run for water if I feel that burning sensation. But if I do feel really hot, I just drink a lot of water. It won't really help (I know it... ) but what I do next is quite helpful for me. I will take sweets ... :)

Hi. I hate spicy food and i cant tolerate it not even when it's only slightly hot. I accidentally chewed a chunk of red pepper last week and it was hell. What I did was took a pinch of white sugar and smeared it in my mouth and downed it with water. Milk also works for me but spreading sugar in my mouth works better. :)
