Law makers should not be a law breakers.Doctors advise the whole world not to smoke because it can cause lung cancer. But in practice most of the doctors smoke as if nothing will happen because they are doctors.Cigarette is concerned it is a dangerous item. My main worry is that smoking is not only affect the smoking people but also people inhale standing nearby. Will they stop smoking..????

I agree with you. But,it is the responsibility of the government to bann smoking. With out banning it,this process will continue with out an end.Government dont want to loose the large revenue generated from this source. If we aware people about the demerit and hazards of smoking, they wont lisiten and give up smoking. If this happens, then it is a miracle.

You are right - if the doctors give us bad example, why should people who see the doctors as a sign for health would want to quit smoking? I see doctors only when I am ill, so for me doctors are not a sign for health... I guess that is why I don't smoke ;)

I agree 100%!! Doctors not only shouldn't do it because of laws...they should know better, because they know of the extreme health risks!! It's so crazy and ironic and quite ridiculous that doctors should be smokers...that I will never understand it!

I am agree to you . But its most common now a days. yes you are right research has proven that passive smoking is also harmful as active smoking. Doctor's attitude should not be as smoking can't harm them as they are doctor. I don't understand if cigrate is not helpful why government get is banned even the production in country. how much revenue government may earn on behf of putting crores of lives at risk.

It's a thing commonly seen especially in the older generation of doctors. Many hospitals though have already forbid smoking in a lot of countries, basically forcing many of the doctors to smoke as well since they don't tend to have the time to go outside to the opposite side of the street or such to do the smoking instead. With GP's though it's something which still can be seen more that they'd simply go stand outside to smoke, but that will change with time I think. Taken the approximate 500 students or so which I had last year in my fellow year it were less than 5 who smoked. If the current medical students give a representation of the future doctors which you'd say it would, less than a percent of the doctors would end up smoking. Unless of course additional would start smoking on a later age.

Smoking is bad for everybody.and you are right that doctors should stay away from smoking as if patient sees doctor smoking how can he quit.It will not morivate him to quit.Actually everybody knows that smoking is bad for health but still they smoke.Donno the reason why anybody do things which are harmful to ones body.

I agree! The surgeon who operated on me was a chain smoker! Imagine being a doctor who advises people to stay healthy, but here's another one who smokes and puts his patients at risk. We call it passive smoking--even if you're a non-smoker, still you inhale its fume because you are within the vicinity of smokers. This is really a problem: smokers and non-smokers cannot co-exist because smokers assert their right to smoke, but non-smokers likewise assert their right to clean air.
