Do you think Bullfighting (Matador fighting a bull) should be banned???? In my point of view, yes, why sticking lances and barbed sticks into the body of the poor animal? It is kind of torture irritating the bull and spilling his blood like that. They say it is done according to Spanish law and it is claimed the purpose of doing so is to lower the blood pressure of the bull so he doesn't get a heart attack during the fight, but why irritating him in the first place? is it entertaiting seeing the bull's blood all over his neck? damn NO.

YES, I think it should be BANNED. Those Spaniards and most of Europ acutually scream for civil rights, personal freedom, etc. But hey they go calling Muslims barabaric for cutting someone's head in public because he did a bad thing. While they bloody kill and slaughter a brainless, defenseless animal, so it's so okaaay for them?? I am sorry to be mean and blunt about this, but I have to be. They want justice and peace? I think they should start looking into their own 2 faced soceity FIRST.

Hi friend, I agree it must be banned. No doubt about that. I just can't understand how someone could be entertained seeing an animal tortured before him. The problem it is a part of their culture so they overlook this side we talking about it. They and im not saying all but they see it as a bravery thing or whatever. I learned that Matadors these days are not earning enough from bullfighting compared with their old timers. It is nice seeing you here buddy. Thank you for your participation.

Hey, would just like to point out that the rest of Europe does not like or accept bullfighting. It's most definitely NOT okay. It's a Spanish tradition only and some Spanish people themselves do not accept it. I also wouldn't go as far as to call the bulls brainless. We have civil rights and personal freedom, we're doing ok there. We have justice (in a way, it could be better) and peace, we're not the big super power creating wars for no reason all over the world. I really don't want to cause an argument, but I couldn't let your post go by without saying a few words. Thanks.

There are a lot of STUPID things accepted by man becuase it's "culture". Drinking and immoral loosness in the UK. Smoking & Racism in most parts of the middle east. violence and homosexuality in all other parts of the world. If you wanna over-look anything becuase it's "culture", then we should live in a closed world again. Globalization what? Bullfighting is a crap sport and it'a gainst all "civil" morals. I really am in doubt in all what we have learned and all knowledge we came to aquire.

It is a very controversial subject. I've been to a bullfight. I was on a tour and this was part of it. I was so naive, I never knew what happened. It's very barbaric. Another part of what I didn't like was the horses have their larynx taken out so you can't hear them when the bull butts up against them. It is so ingrained into the Spanish culture that it would be a long time before they are stopped. But I will never go to another one.

It's mustn't be controversial but as you said it is built-in their culture and it may took very long time before it changes. As i i came to know, business for Matadors is somehow declining coz they aren't earning a lot compared to old times but that's not the point here i think doing that 2 a helpless animal just for the sake of entertainmet is not acceptable. Thank you very much for the response.

Oh I think in this day and age it is so unnecessary. Surely there are more interesting, activities and entertainment out there, as to see a helpless animal die in such barbaric fashion. It should be banned!

Well said Annie and even if there weren't any other entertainment, it should not be allowed, torturing an animal isn't entertainment. Thanks Annie x

I think bullfighting is horrible and I definitely do regard it as animal cruelty. Personally I think anything that's done for amusement and hurts/kills animals should be banned immediately. The lances are meant as torture and to tire the bull out as he loses lots of blood. My boyfriend is half Spanish and he detests bullfighting, there are a lot of Spanish people who think the same.

Sure it isn't nice to kill animals for fun or for sports. Although you do have to understand that bullfighting is part of Spain's culture and tradition. Banning bullfighting would mean that you're putting restrictions towards another nation's culture..

I fully understand that. The Matador has been always looked upon as an art perfomer whose bravery is shown thru' the way he handles the bull but the questions remains: Hurting and torturing a helpless animal is a big issue even if it is a part of a culture. Thank you for the response.
