It's wonderful that you're paying tribute here on Memorial Day---I think what annoys me not only about Memorial Day but Veterans Day is how its gotten be a big "sale" day in stores...I don't know..for some reason that really doesn't show much respect...both days are a time for rememberance not to make profits..

it's true. everything gets so commercialized these days, all these materialistic people...i HATE going shopping on those days (like even if i need groceries), cuz there are all those people out there taking advantage of that...as just another day off...sad, good point pyewacket!

There are several people in both my family, and my wife's family that have been military, as well as having friends overseas right now, so this is a very poignant day for us. For those that we have that are alive, we've made sure to tell them that we appreciate them. That we won't ever forget what they've done for us, and what it cost them. Even if you don't agree with the war, and the reasons that our countrymen are there, the people that we have there should be supported. They are fighting b/c they believe in a better way of life. And it's not ever to be forgotten.

We can always appreciate the people we still have with us. I would actually like to go to the Arlington Cemetery, to just kneel for a time in appreciation, and remembrance. My wife went when she was much younger, and standing in that area, and seeing the Vietnam Wall, are experiences that were strong enough to stay with her to this day. Too many people take too many things for granted.
