i'd like to speak from my family's point of view :) the thing that makes us stick together no matter where we are is our bonding and our mother's love for us. we always look on how our parent's brought us up. we have been more than family, we are friends who gives opinions on any problems that we face. we bond because we were brought up to be there for each other. friends may turn their backs on us but never will a brother or a sister. we have been together for 30 years now and yet we are still here. loving and supporting our family.

Sounds like you have a wonderful mother and a wonder family. I wish all families had that close bond, so a brother or sister would not turn on one another. I am happy that your family is there still supporting and sticking together. Take care, - DNatureofDTrain

There's an old adage that the "family that prays together, stays together". I believe that if family members pray for each other, or pray together, they are more likely to stay as a family longer or for life. Of course, it's not always a guarantee as I have heard of families who are so spiritually drawn, but end up broken. Other factors are open communication, trust, respect and spending quality time with each other. I would like also to share another quotation which says that the "greatest gift a father can give to his children, is to love their mother". I hope that fathers who read this would realize the importance of love in order to stay as a family.

Very very true, in some cases. The only time it is not is those who use religion as an excuse to abuse, or people who are forcing their religion on a family member who is not the same religion as they are or who is an atheist. So religious tolerance is a big one. My family years ago used to be the perfect Brady bunch at one time. I think that is when things started to fall apart is after they decided they no longer wanted to sing Grace at the table. And our families style of grace was simple, we sang the Johnny appleseed song, as prayer.. just as we were taught in preschool. "Oh the Lord is good to me, So I thank the Lord. For giving me, the things I need, the Sun, The Rain, the Appleseeds, oh the Lord is good to me." was the words of it. So "The Lord" Could be addressed to any higher power... So communion in spirituality with family, is an important factor. But, it can both make or break a family. Thanks for sharing. - DNatureofDTrain
