British Bank Holiday weather a disaster ...

You just have to laugh ... Murphy's Law has done it again .. a British Bank Holiday weekend and for the last 48+ hours we have had a deluge of truly Biblical proportions .. yesterday evening I opened the door a fraction to see how my tomatoes, carrots and radish plants were coping and it was like getting a bucket of water thrown at me . I was drenched before I could get the door shut again hahahahahah A neighbour said we've had just over 2 inches of rain overnight .. so goodness knows how much rain has fallen this last 48 hours or more .. and it hasn't stopped once ... I dare say we will soon be getting flood warnings as all the rivers were pretty full locally before this last lot of consistent torrential rain .. We've also got some pretty strong gusts of wind .. approx 55-60mph last night .. (my neighbour has a garden weather station) .. the trees are now so heavily laden with water they've sucked up that the branches are really drooping down .. some have even torn off the main trunk leaving long tear marks in the saturated wood .. The wild birds are looking thoroughly miserable sitting huddled in the hedge .. no insects of course .. but loads of worms that have had to come to the surface of their waterlogged burrows .. now and then a bird will dash frantically out onto the grass and drag a worm back to the relatively dry area under the hedge .. only for a squabble to break out as to who will grab most of the worm feast .. So how has the weather been near you this weekend .. wet and windy .. dry and sunny .. cold and crisp .. hot and humid ??

Lol, my family all live in the UK, and my father called me up today and told me how wet and miserable it's been. I could only laugh, because when he called to tell me how beautiful the weather was a while back, we had constant rain here in Vancouver. Today, the tables were turned. It was cold wet and miserable in the UK, while we here in Vancouver are experiencing the start of what's going to be a fantastic Summer by all accounts. Sunny, warm, blue skies with just a hint of a breeze. Ahhh Summers here in Vancouver are GREAT! I don't miss the UK weather!

To me that sounds like the perfect time to head to the pub for a pint of lager. I hope you have an umbrella Patootie! We are having a beautiful day today! It is about 80 degrees and sunny, with just a slight breeze to keep the Godawful bloodthirsty mosquitos away. If I had a boat I would come get you!

Wow! You sure are getting a dumping. We had a city about an hour and a half away from us get totally flooded from a flash rainfall. The water was up to the hood of sedan automobile. Funny thing was, it only hit that one city. No other areas around it This past Saturday was the opening season for the kids' outdoor soccer league. 96 teams participated in this event that took place Friday evening and all day Saturday. There were hot dogs and hamburgers, pop, water, ice cream... all for sale at cheap prices. Each of our girls had two games to play starting at 11:30am and we were there until 6pm as the games got behind by an hour. We experienced warm temperatures, followed by very cool temperatures, followed by a slow influx of humidity that lasted a matter of minutes and then it cooled down again. Then the sun would come out for half an hour and it would be warm. It clouded over and got cool again. We experienced... oh, maybe 12 raindrops. Seriously, it never really rained but we did feel a few drops. It was the weirdest thing. I'm just glad those kids didn't have to play in the heat and humidity that we experienced earlier in the week. It was brutally hot on Tuesday and Wednesday. Right now it is sunny and 15C with quite the breeze blowing. I never know how to dress! It'll be interesting to see what kind of weather this summer will bring.

A bit of everything. Cool, cloudy, heavy rain, fog, humidity and today it looks to be sunny and near 80. But no monsoon as you are experiencing. I have always wonder about Britian's weather. What is the hottest it gets and do you ever get weeks of sunshine without rain? We might get two or three inches of rain at one time once every 10 or 20 years. Sound like you are about waterlogged.

I live in the US, sorry to hear about the crummy weather by the way, and it is relatively nice here in Wisconsin. Hot and not too humid, just the right temperature to play catch. Memorial Day weekend has been nice for us.

Well, we've had our Summer, it's back to the Autumn again lol! I came back from my parents late last night and coming back on the M25 with the rain lashing down and my windscreen wipers on full power and struggling it was far from pleasant! It's cold, damp, miserable but what else should we expect from the good old British weather. I feel sorry for the families who have taken their kids down to the coast for the weekend, I bet the beaches are deserted. It'll be glorious sunshine tomorrow as always! Yep good old Murphy is at it again so he is !

Today on the actual bank holiday it hasn't rained yet. I have finished all my jobs and thought I would go for a walk and there is a huge black cloud in the sky. Oh well much better than the last 2 days when it hasn't stopped raining at all. At least I haven't had to water my tomatoes!!
