Looks like you do not like to study. So, better quit it and utilise your time in something else. But if you like to study then you must do whatever is required to be done for learning. It is always beneficial to go through the contents of material covered in the class each evening and prepare notes. In the morning just refresh the notes that you made the previous evening. Just practice this honestly and diligently for a fortnight and see the difference.

Faruqy, I am glad that you have decided to tighten your belt and get ready to do what is required to be done! Well, it is said, "Well begun is half done." So, you are already in the process and now do not back track! All the best to you. Keep going!

I guess it would help if you sleep first before studying. That way your mind would be refreshed to actually know, understand and absorb whatever subject you are studying.

Sure. I'm from these people thata are always prepared for school and feel alwfull when not. So in this case I awlays go to school in a perfect shape. Here's what to do to feel in a nice mood for your studies: 1) Make sure you've slept the night before at least 8 hrs. The first thing to do to prepare your brain for the hard work in the morning is the good rest.If you didn't have time for 8-hour sleep then at least take a nap in the afternoon for an hour. You'll feel refreshed. 2) Always go to lectures on time. Remember that if you are late with 5 minutes may be you've missed some important notes or messages from your teacher. So you have to be prepared for this situation too. Ask around your class to fill the blank spaces in your memory. 3)Next thing is concentration. When you enter class you need to 'shut down' all the things conected with everything else but studying. What I mean is to stop thinking about what you're busy doing in the afternoon or in the evening. These moments will come too,but the purpose you're at class is to get the main point of the lessons and if you have questions to use tha fact that you have a teacher standing in front of you. So what will you be thinking next time you enter? 4) Try to make as much notes as you can. Try to picture the things the teacher is saying. In this way you'll visualise your lesson, which will create better understanding and stronger memorries from it. 5) When at home take a break and do something fun. You deserve a little joy after the hard day at school/university. At about 4 o'clock sit down and revise your lesson from the textbook. Read carefully and make sure you understand what you're reading. Help up yourself by looking up at your notes. Then get a pencil and underline all sentences that you think are important. If you still can't remember examine yourself by writting them down. This is how you activate your visual memory and you won't even notice when you'll have learnt enough for a nice grade. And remember that the most important thing from all above is to believe in yourself and do the things I mentioned systematicaly. Don't give up, because sooner or later you'll pick up the fruit of your hard work!:)

I really don't prepare before I go to class. I do the requirements if there are. If the professor is teaching effectively, then it means that there is no need to prepare since all you need to do is listen. On the other hand, when the professor is not effective or doesn't teach at all, you can't really prepare well since it is very hard to pace with him when you don't even know what he is talking about.

uhmm not always ...i only prepare when we have a test ,,or quiz ,.something like that .,because i'm very lazy when it comes in studying ...hmmm my comment to your situation is ....try to analyze your lecture ,..and ask help to your older sister or brother to teach you to understand your lecture ., but why u can't concentrate in your study ?hmmm maybe when you're studying you think some things that's not involve in your studies .,try to concentrate only to your lecture when studying ,.not to other things ..^_^

i am having the same situation like you.I try before to study before class but it does not really get into my mind. Its happens only sometimes when i try..hehe!I think our habits need to change.Get enough sleep so you wont felt sleepy.Interest to what you are learning is important so you can enjoy and understand easily what you are learning.i found out that what interest me allow me to get full concentration on what i learn in class.Try to adapt to the things you learn!!

You should find your study time, like, try to find out in what certain time you study well. I read that from a book back in my 2nd year college. Then, try also finding a study habit that will make you interested in studying, so that you won't get bored. Like, listening to music while studying. Me, I usually listen to music while I study...it works for me.

My advice is to take detailed notes during the lecture, and make a note of anything is especially confusing. Bring your book to class so that you have something to refer to. Then when you study, refer back to your lecture notes as you read. Sometimes it helps me to get out of my room to study. I know I have a bad habit of falling asleep if I try to study on my bed. Go to the library or find a tucked-away spot somewhere on campus to study. Listening to music often helps me concentrate--I have to have background noise. Classical or instrumental work best, but I can handle my regular music too. It can also be helpful to form study groups with people in your class--just make sure that talk stays on school work! If you're finding something particularly confusing, sometimes talking through it with someone helps. Also, take advantage of your professor's office hours if you are confused. And check into whether or not your school has a tutoring service. A lot of schools have departmental tutors who work for the school, so it's free to you. Of course, one thing that will help is to get into the habit of doing your assignments before class. At the very least, try to skim through the reading. It will help a lot.

You know, I used to study before entering my class, but after a while, I found it didn't help me much anymore. So I don't do it anymore. Nowadays, I simply study for about 5 - 10 minutes each night. Honestly, the thing that helps me the most is to just pay attention and ask questions. Otherwise, just have fun.

I think I have three ways to give you. The first is that you can review what you study in class in time. the second is that maybe you aren't interested in what you study in class, you can learn more about it in you spare time ,learn the knowledge about it ,not the teaching materials. The finally is that you should usually learn and study your courses, making you interested in them,so that you can concentrate on that.
