what's the weirdest, craziest thing that your parents told you and in which you believed in as a child? ever been told to stop running around after meal so that you wont get appendicitis, or maybe a dwarf is getting married when it both rains and sun shines at the same time? or even not to sing when cooking so you will be able to marry when you grow up? funny things in which you believed..

My mom used to tell us when it was thundering that the angels were having pillow fights. She also told us that every time we did something bad a small black dot would form on our heart and that once our heart was completely black we would die and not go to heaven. And then the thing about if we were still up at midnight the bogeyman would get us.

i actually have never heard of those before! thanks for sharing them.. although we share the same thing with the bogeyman.. parents would really think of anything to scare us if we dont go to bed early. and we believed them. who wouldnt be scared when told that we will be taken by a monster!

Lol I think it's just scare tactics. Probably because the bumbay loves selling things, so people told me that if I was naughty, the bumbay would get me and sell me too. I don't think that it's racist or something...or maybe that really happened before - a child was kidnapped by the bumbay and was sold as a slave during the pre-history of the Philippines. But that's just my speculation.

i guess they just use it as a means to scare us! this is not a racist.. but i guess its just how they look, with the long beard and all.. ;)

One is the belief in Santa Claus. This only stopped when I caught my mom putting the candies and small toys in my sock one december night a long long time ago. I even cried becoz of disappointment and I told her "I never thought youre just the one who give me those gifts every christmas eve. I dont want you to do it. I want the real Santa to come."

yup, i guess all of us kids were forced to believe that there is a real santa claus, who gives gifts to good kids! we (me and my sis) also caught our mom putting candies! we just pretended we didnt see nothing and never believed in santa ever since. ;)

Yeah at least we know the truth now. Everytime Christmas is just around dthe corner, I would tease my mom and call her Santa. I had decided that I wont let my kids grow up with this belief so I told them since they are younger that there is no Santa Claus but there is a God who loves them and would be willing to listen to their prayers and grant them their request as long as they wont be abusive about asking. I tell them to ask for what they need. And if God becomes please with them, He will give them more than what they need.

I used to believe that when your pointing your fingers to a rainbow, it will get cut! Geesh, I just don't know where on earth they get that idea. Luckily up to now, I still have my fingers with me! INTACT! LOL! ;)

i really dont know where our parents got that idea, but we believe them still.. as a kid nobody liked to be called 6 or 7 fingered person because we pointed at the rainbow. scary back then..

I remembered my mom telling me to finish my meal. If there are leftovers my future husband will have lots of blemishes or pimples on the face. As a child ofcourse you will believe in whatever they say. And now i find it very funny coz i know theres no scientific explanation or connection to what they are saying. But on the other hand, theres a positive effect becoz i would always finish my food while growing up. Its such a waste of money throwing leftovers right? well, i guess i will be passing this myth to my future children, very effective :)

lol.. also havent heard of this one when i was a kid.. my parents would just tell me to finish up my plate or else the grains will run away from our rice dispenser! funny thing but you're right its an effective way to let children show the importance of finishing up a meal and to never have any leftovers in a plate. thanks!

i do not know why old people would say that when you point at a rainbow, the pointing finger will wither. well as a kid i also believed in it!

I had believed in pinocchio (did I spell it correctly?) that when you lie your nose would grow longer. it was good because I was afraid to lie, but I would have preferred they explained the genuine things that would happen if I lied instead of threatening me with that. happy mylotting and God bless.

When I was a kid, I have always believed in Santa Claus. Then if you let the baloon fly in the sky, Jesus Christ will receive it. Hehehe. That's why I always write a letter and tie it with the balloon...
