Do you $hop as a form of Therapy when you are feeling Down or Depressed?

Currently I am unemployed, but in the past, if I had a bad day at work, a problem with a relationship, a bad interview, or I simply felt depressed, I would end up at the mall, Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I would shop around the stores feeling high with energy, anxious to get to the next store and I also had no sense of what I was spending. Im not talking thousands, I do shop at Marshall's, you know. LOL What sort of feelings do you experience?

Oh yeah I'm a great believer in Retail Therapy. But I've gotten much better at it these days. I used to buy all kinds of useless stuff when I had a bad day, but I don't do that anymore.... I'd like to own a house someday...

It really does help to have a goal for a future day...now you have something else to focus on when you are having a bad day. You can go look online at homes for sale! Good luck.

Thats a great idea too. You're right, it is nice to just let your mind and body go as you drift off to sleep.

Yes I do, and I used to do it so much during the first year of my work. Now I can deal better with stress or pressure, therefore I don't shop as much. I used to buy so many cosmetics, skin care products or clothes that could scare everyone away. Usually I did it because I was under stress and I was unhappy about something, oh when I broke up too! I kind of need those to fill up my "loneliness" *laughs*.

I go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls too. I like Target a lot also. I don't really shop when I'm depressed, but I do like to go just to give me a boost. My husband and I don't have much money right now to spend extra because we are building our house, but I always manage to find something on a clearance rack. I love finding that one piece of clothing or household item that is awesome and....on SALE!=)LOL...story of my life.

hmmm.. i've read in the previous issue of Reader's Digest that shopping has been proven to feel young.. we get to appreciate different things by shopping, and it helps us soothe our stressed minds... :)
