I'm looking into possibly studying vet nursing. Does anyone here do it or know someone who does it? I'd like to know what the job's like and some of their experiences and how much it pays etc.

Working as a vet nurse is brilliant, i did it last year for work experience, being wiht the animals and helping them get better is such a rewarding job BUT the hours are not that great and the pay isnt much better either from what i have been told

Wow that was a quick response! Yeah for animal lovers it would be an extremely rewarding job. I could live with a less than fantastic pay, as long as it's not too measly...

Is that the same as being a vet tech? I had always wanted to be a vet, but 4 more years of college is too much for me at my age, so I considered vet tech. I'm not sure it pays as well as being an engineer at this point. I also don't like blood and needles, so I don't think being in the vet field is a good idea for me, no matter how much I love animals!! Sorry I'm not being much help, but it does require less schooling than being a veterinarian. I would go to your local vet and see if they have any volunteer programs wherre you can clean cages and such and get to know the folks who DO work as vet techs and ask them questions about their jobs and get an idea about if you would like it or not.

I was a vet nurse many years ago, so a lot has probably changed since then...lol. It was very very rewarding, a very hard job, disgusting and ugly at times, you really have to have nerves of steal and not become too emotional. I really suggest that you volunteer at a vet clinic that way you can get a basic feel the the place and how it runs and what happens in that sort of environment. I wish you all the best.

I've looked into it, and if you actually get the required education, it pays fairly well, at least in America. I think you would be great at it Coffeeshot. You seem to have that sympathetic factor that is needed in this area.
