A friend on mylot seems to be slipping. What do I do?

A mylot user that I know seems to be slowly but surely slipping into alcoholism. This user's writing is become darker and more cynical by the passing day, and I feel that he needs help. Yet, I don't know him personally, and so might be seen as overstepping my lines if I offer advice or suggestions. At the same time, I'm concerned for him. What do I do? I believe in the powers of prayers. My friend Darkwing had recently asked her friends on mylot to pray for a friend of hers who is suffering from cancer, and now, I'm doing the same, asking all my friends who care, to collectively pray for this person and hope that he will be able to conquer his addiction. Thanks and God Bless! CV.

It's so sweet of you. But you said you don't know him personally? Then why do you feel like helping him? After all, there are countless strangers out there who probably need more help than him. Anyway if you really feel like helping you, go ahead and pm him or something. It doesn't hurt to take the initiative. The worst that can happen is that he refuse your help or ignore you. :P

Since you don't know him personally I would be hesitant to say anything to him. We all go through times and perhaps that is all it is. You could respond to his discussions and put a supported glint to it and perhaps that will touch something in him for the better. That is the best I can suggest at this point. Good luck in this situation and prayer can indeed work.
