Why are Rice Krispies Treats so much better

when you buy them? At least the few times I have made them at home, the store bought ones are way better. Why do you think that is? What is your opinion, are homemade or store bought ones better?

I've always like the store-bought once better, but we've gotten a little better with working with our homemade ones and making them unique. Last time, we took the Andes mint candies and baked them into the treats, that was very good. The thing with homemade, we can add whatever we like... but for plain, those store-bought ones are pretty good.

OMG I love you! haha. I dont think I have had an Andes mint in a couple of YEARS but those are SO GOOD. Now I am going to have to try that. That sounds delicious.

It actually is really good, the trick is to just find another flavor you like and think would go well; we put Andes mints in everything from Rice Krispies Treats to Brownies... M&M's are also good for us in either.

Usually the store bought ones also have different chemical additives that we don't have acess to. That's just a thought. I don't care for these either way actually. I'd rather eat a bowl of Rice Krispies with bananas sliced on it with sugar added. Hee hee he! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Ooh, Yuck! Ptui!! My mouth hurts just thinking about those vile things. Rice Krispy Treats are one of my favorite snacks, but ONLY if they are homemade. Those atrocities in the grocery store should be banned by international laws against cruel and unusual torture! I bet it won't be long before Al Qaeda releases a video of capters being forced to eat them! I guess I'm just a Rice Krispy Treat purist. Not only do I prefer the homemade ones, but I also prefer them without M&Ms, Chocolate Chips or other unnecessary contaminants ;~D

LOL!! That would be my kind of torture, "eat 20 rice krispie treats NOW" Um hello, SURE I'll eat them. LOL! I dont think i've had them with m&ms or chocolate chips. I have had ones with sprinkles on top and they weren't my favorites.

I love rice krispie treats, and I must admit I love them made at home much more than I do store bought ones. When I was a kid, my mom used to make then into balls. After mixing up the cereal/marshmellow mixture she would roll then into balls and then drop them into cupcake papers. It's much easier to do this is you put a little extra oil, pam or butter on your hands. That marshmellow mix is super sticky! All my friends used to love them in the "ball" style. We called them snowballs. Also I think the ball shaped helped them to stay soft. Now that I'm all grown up I still make them the ball way....or once I made a giant snake shaped krispie treat for a "snakes on a plane" party. That was pretty cool.

No way! I don't think Rice Krispies Treats are so much better when you buy them. My mam makes the best Rice Krispies Treats I've ever had. I don't know what they are really, and I don't want to know but thy are good.

I don't know why that is, but I agree...the store bought are better. Maybe they put more preservative junk in them...LOL! Anyway, only my little girl will eat them. My little boy will not eat anything sweet at all! Am I a lucky Mom or what? Give him the choice between ice cream and salad and he will choose salad hands down!

I actually like homemade ones better just for the simple fact that you know what your putting in them. The store bought ones have too may unknowns.

I think the homemade ones are so much better. My mom made these about a month ago and I hadn't had any in years...they were so yummy. The store bought ones taste weird and just not very good.

Oh- I totally disagree with you on this one- I think the store boughten ones are too sickly sweet- I love homemade rice krispy treats! they are the best- almost one of my favorite snacks! and so easy but messy to make- I think the homemade ones are better because they don't taste fake and too sweet- thanks for the idea- I think I'll make some tomorrow-

I like the homemade ones better, the ones you buy are more sticky, like they use more marshmallows. My husband love them so when I make them I just use less cereal so they are more marshmallowey =) My daughter loves melting the butter in the pan and then adding the marshmallows and watching them melt as the stirs them.

I wonder if the store bought ones have MSG in them, that trigger our taste receptors and enhance flavors. tricky little chemicals! To liven up your own rice krispies treats, try this... add a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon and nutmeg. I never cared for them much plain. (some real vanilla extract is also a nice addition)

I think that the homemade ones are better. I put m&m's in mine and they are delicious. The store ones are good too. I haven't made those in a while. Thanks for the idea, I'm watching my grandchildren tomorrow maybe we will make them.

when the store bought ones first came out, i thought they were sooooo gross. never bought them again, UNTIL my hubby recently bought some. they're MUCH better now. maybe they've changed them a bit over the years. BUT i love the homemade ones the best i think!

two words for you... plastic wrap. wrap those little bad boys up for a day or two, THEN come back for them. they've had a chance to get a little... aged, if you will. though i do prefer the homemade ones. they don't leave that weird feeling in the back of my throat. Blessed Be
