I mean think about it, the content is basic but I think its just so darn funny. Why do you watch it?

well, I've only ever seen the original version (which is just beyond fantastic) and it's the characters. I think most people can see someone they know in David Brent. a not very good boss who thinks that everyone looks up to him and finds hims funny. just because he thinks he's funny. it's not that he makes a joke that makes it funny, it's the uncomfortable silence afterwards. Gareth Keenan, a weedy little thing that has read too many war books, and has a bit of a fantasy life involving it. and as well as the funny parts, there is also some real sensitivity, such as Dawn and Tims slow build relationship. I love the Office. but I've never watched the American re-make. to be honest I can't see why they needed to re-make it. it's not like it could be made better.

I'll agree with most and say that it is the characters. There's a reason why the first part of characters sounds like care. Because you have to "care" about the characters. Each week every person offers new enlightenment to what life means to them. This is done through fantastic writing and brilliant delivery by its actors. Every person is perfectly suited for their role and plays them to the full extent to where at times I almost forget I'm watching a perfectly executed sitcom and think I'm actually watching a real documentary of a Dunder Mifflin Office.
