How old is your computer? With this, I mean, how long have you been using it since purchase?? I just asked because mine is already used for already 2 years and I think it's working a bit slower now compared to how it peforms before. How about your PC?? How old is it?? How's it's performance now compared to it's performance when it was brand new??

i've had my laptop for over two years now and it's getting primitive. when i open multiple windows, everything seems to freeze for five seconds and then resume normal activity. i have it turned on most of the day because i bring it everywhere i go. i don't even remember the last time i reformated it or did a virus scan. my friends keep telling me to buy a new one, but i just can't throw it away. it was a gift from my dad when my desk top broke down. boohoo, i'm so sentimental. but i want to get my hands on a macbook!

My computer case is 5 years old, the rest varies from 5 years to a couple of months. I keep on adding components to it, that is the problem of building one yourself you are never happy. I can't say if my computer is slower, as I can't judge but I do note that I need more space. Programs are becoming larger all the time and that affects the performance. Also internet pages are denser and more complex thus needing more time to load. My harddrive gets so crowded sometimes, that every few months I have to take a day or two and clean it out, then I do notice a remarkable difference. Also cleaning out the dust that is attracted to the metal componets will reduce overheating and thus result in faster processing. If you still have the same operating system, and if you have not increased your used space on the drive dramatically and you don't have problems with overheating then there might be a hardware problem. It is unlikely, though. If you get very frustrated with the lack of speed, or performance, try reorganizing the computer. If that does not work you can always upgrade.

I am using Hewlett Packard Vectra VL. Its branded desktop which I purchased two years ago. Pentium III 450 Mhz with 128 MB Ram and 6 GB Hard disk. Its performance is satisfactory to me. The same today as on the day I bought it. I don't play games as some people do. Thats why I guess I am still using an old computer.

i bought this pc back in 2003 n its working pretty nicely...i had to upgrde some parts of it a year back but that was only becoz i was willing to do some graphics work n not becoz my pc slowed down... i dont think a pc can just slow down within 2 years if its of a good make or well assembled..better u can just sort out the problem with ur slowing down of pc rather than just going for a high budget upgrade instantaneosly...

My computer is almost 6 years old now. I keep it clean of spyware and viruses, and have a 300GB external drive to store most of my files & back-ups; despite its age, my computer still runs fine.

After complaining for years about my Compaq notebook model 2002, I finally could by a brandnew Gateway notebook, 14" brightview, Vista... it´s great! But I had to wait very patiently! If your computer is slowing down, try with cleaning the registry and defragment, but be careful to back up and have technical advice at hand.

My computer is a hand-me down from my sister. It is a very good computer with a DVD player. It's way better than the one I used to own too. The computer was built by my dad. All he did was by a couple of needed parts like the RAM, drivers, graphics card, cables, and more. I can speed up my computer by just buying a faster graphics card or adding more RAM. It has 244 right now, but I want to get it up to 1 GB RAM so I can play faster games and sharpen my movies.

I have a very old computer. My mother in law gave it to us so that we could get on the internet. She had had it in her basement for a long time. It has windows 98 on it. We have a land line dial up, also. So it is slow anyways. But it does what we ant it to. He can play his poker and I can write. Good enough. For Christmas, we hope to go in half and buy a new computer.

Hello! I got my computer back in March of 2005 so I have had it a little over two years. We have Bellsouth Fast Access DSL and my computer still seems to go a bit slow at times also.

I've had my computer for about six months now. I built the machine myself and it put me back around $670 and about 4 hours of my time. I did this when I got sick of all the pre-installed junk that computer manufacturers put on the hard drive. I also wanted to have my computer set up the way I like it; not how the company thinks I like it. Basicly, my computer runs just as well as it did when I got it, because I take good care of my investment. Always run your matinence schedule every couple of weeks. This has been mentioned before in passing, but I highly recommend that you reformat your hard drive if your computer is running slow. Most operating systems have essentially a "half-life", meaning that their performance will decay over time. Windows is the most obvious and biggest culprit. You should reformat every 6-9 months to keep your performance as high as possible. (by the way, this is my very first post on myLot. Yay me!)
