Do you think we're doing enough to prepare for a pandemic?

A guy on a transatlantic flight with a severe case of tuberculosis. What a selfish ****! Can you imagine if you were on the plane with this idiot. This is why I feel that when a particularly virulent strain of the flu hits, we are going to be devistated. All it takes is one person infected to get on a plane, go to another country, and they could potentially infect thousands of people. Is there something we can do to prevent this, or is the pandemic inevitable?

It's scary how a pandemic could occur...you're right it could take just one infected person to start things going...almost sounds like that movie "Outbreak"
There have been pandemics throughout history--do you remember not too long ago there were actually noted cases of the plague right here in America (around the Arizona area I believe)

The main problem as I see it, is that we are at fault ourselves...by this I mean that nowadays we have gone a bit daft with all those anti bacterial cleansers....this is creating stronger strains of virus and bacteria making antibiotics worthless -- so the whole thing is a scary concept..
