Okay, the alarm in the school opposite is going off and it is so so loud and really irritating. I can't even locate which building it is coming off so I am getting frustrated trying to figure it out. The is about 40 houses in my block and I know they can all hear it to. You would think the alarm would be connected up to a control centre somewhere but its being going for half an hour. My bedroom is in the direction of the alarm as well and I know it is going to infuriate me when I go to bed. I would phone the police but its friday night and i know they are busy and what can they really do about it. Just going to have to bare with it. How annoyed to get by it and in your area what is the procedure for dealing with it. I know that is noise pollution and I should be phoning the council but they are probably closed and what can they really do about it. I think it only helps if it is a regular thing.

One of my neighbours car alarms goes off all the time just now and it drives me mad. It wakes up everyone in the block apart from him apparently! Goes on for ages and ages before he gets up and fixes it. I think one of the neighbours has already threatened to report him to Environmental Health as a "noise nuisance" but I doubt they will do much about it anyway. It's a bit alarming (no pun intended!) if it's been going on that long and no-ones turned up yet. What if the school was actually being burgled or on fire or something?

wowo i just relised that it has in fact stopped. Hopefully it isnt just on a wee break. Feeling a bit sensitive about alarms just now cos they just put up yet another pedestrian green man crossing and it is right outside out house and we are waiting for them to be switched on to find out if they are designed for the nearing impaired and they will go beep beep beep every time green man comes on. BTW the green man is our cross sign.

It depends on the system. There was a gas station just down the road from where I worked 3rd shift until last fall. The other girls I worked with and I would go outside from time to time during the night just to get some fresh air. Several times the alarm at the station would go off for hours and hours. At first we thought the same as you but finally we called the police one night and the station wasn't set up to notify anyone - mostly just to scare people off. I would call the police and let them know.

In dark moments I plot horrible and malignant revenge on owners of over-sensitive car alarms. Revenges involving razor blades, genitals and salt pale in comparison to the depravity of my imagination. all the best urban

That would be so annoying. I live behind a strip of shops and businesses and almost every night a bloody alarm goes off! The shop directly behind my house has been burgled a few times though so whenever an alarm goes off I get paranoid that some dodgy robbers are going to jump the fence to my back yard an kill me :-0

I swear I don't even notice that stuff. It is usually only when the dogs start flipping out that I realise there is an alarm or a siren going off. How late did it end up going on for? They are supposed to send whoever is on the contact list down to deal with it if the company can't turn it off from their central station. Hope it didn't go on for an eternity.

It actually stopped not long after so it probably being going off for the best part on an hour but it was so loud that my mum starting thinking it was in the house. Lol.
