Why common people are running away when they heard the meditation?

Most of the people in the world when they heard the word spirituality ,meditation etc try to run away with out even listening to them or try to understand them .Some of them know that it will make his life better.but still.....? What u think?

I think it is due to a lack of understanding as many people associate meditation with some type of religion like Hinduism for example. Yoga is catching up in many places thoughh

All the religions in the world prescribes meditation coz ,meditation will make your mind calm ,lessen the no of thoughts in us prevent the cravings of mind more towards sensual objects and there by impoves our concentration and if only we have peace of mind and concetration we will be able to enjoy other happinesses in the world.In india when people talk about meditation i think common people think about those saints who leave their home for attaining god .

it might require a good amount of education for men to understand what is meditation all about. nonetheless, i will not usually participate in some meditations of religious connotation. as for yoga i have already tried it and i know htat it has so many good effects that most of us ccan truly be benefitting from.

I think,Indian people are not aware of the great,Yoga practice.If we introduce a yoga period or class at the schools,this mistrust will be slowly vanish.Now people from other countries are comming here and learning different medioation techniques.

I will not consider meditation is part of any yoga .though meditation is included in yoga.As far as i am conerned meditation will give us a peace of mind and if only our mind is calm we will be able to solve our problems and we will not go after those temporary happiness.People seek the help of those material things like drinks,smoking,over eating etc etc when they have problems in life .only we have a peace of mind our intellect will properly and will be able to solve the problems.but if meditation is commons may be most of the business man especially those in entertainment will lose .since people will find happiness in inside world of our and wont crave for those material things more

Most of the people turn to meditation when they lose the peace of mind in their life.Osho has said that the world is 'No-thing'.and budha means nothing ,means nothing or no-thing exists in the world.it is our mind which makes us belief that .and when all the thoughts are gone in meditation you will be borne.i hope to attain that state of mind.hi.hi

My own personal take is that if these people stop and listen they're afraid they'll be required to do something, like make changes in their lives, or commit themselves to bettering themselves. Some of them are afraid they'll encounter God and that thought frightens them.

It is a valid point.People know that meditation will make them a good person and they will be able to do lot of good things to others which they dont want to do.people or their mind is so clinged to these material objects they dont want to loose anything.their mind is afraid of changes in their life and in india it is common belief that meditation is for saints or spiritual people who leave their home and travel ,they dont see those people who do meditation and lead a happy and relax family life.

most people do not like to participate in meditations because of its religious connotation. even i, i will only participate in those which are conducted by the religious sect where i am a member of. i will shy away at all times from religious activities of other people with different faith than i have in me. this is an understandable reaction then. most people will do their own mditation at their homes. in fact, this should be a daily practice among us before getting that sleep each night.

I think if the person run away means they not know the benefit of Mediation. It is very useful for our life for leaving the tension and live happy life, for improving the memory power, for remover the stress or illness also many benefits. I cant explain all...I not run away from mediation.
