I am from a non-English speaking country. I have to say that English is really important in finding a job in my country. Wherever you choose to work, the applicant is demanded to know English. And the higher level your English is, the better job you will be offered. With more and more foreign companies doing business and investing in my country, more and more talents with a good command of English are needed in foreign trade companies. Since English is actually considered as an international language, it is valued a lot in many schools. English is now taught as one of the key subjects together with maths and our native language. English is taught in primary schools and even in some kindergartens. And many parents pay great attention to the English study of their kids. One of my nephews graduated from college last year and wanted to find a job in a company, as his English level is too low, it is impossible for him to get a job in a company. Therefore he has to find a job that has nothing to do with English. So you see, without knowing English, it is not easy to find a good job in a company. English is placed in a very important position, which has become one of the basic requirements in finding a job. Just like what you said in your discussion, some even go abroad to study English. It is the same with people in my country. In short, English is of great importance in finding a job.

I think so! Though some may not admit it, it is important that we know and learn the english language. english is considered as one of the major languages in the world. it helps in communicating with people not just from your own country but more on foreigners. it is really important to know english when you are looking for jobs especially if you have to work abroad (foreign places where english is the main language). even if you just work in your own country, but you use machines with english manuals or directions, you still have to learn it. you can not understand and do your work properly if you can not comprehend the things that are being assigned to you.

Yes, in our country, students graduating from university should know some enlgish. we have kind of national english test called Band 4 and Band 6. each person passed either one or both can get a certificate for it and the certificate helps a lot in finding a good job. Actually not all work need English, but without a certificate of English, you can't be accepted by any company.
