colorwise for your kitchen...did you choose it or is it what came with the home you bought/rent. Do you like it? why? why not? We have awful yellow veneared countertops and homemade cabnets that are too heavily stained. We had an old stainless steel stove/oven but after it electricuted me we purchased a used almond colored stove, it and the fridge died when lightening struck the house. We've replaced them with what we could afford (with 1 year no payment no interest plan from lowes) The stove is now a flat top, white. I do like it, our other stoves did not have a window for the oven, nor an oven light, nor a timer and alarm. With the newer stove and fridge we have also seen a decrease in our electric bill. I have removed the doors from half the upper cabinets and intend to strip them and either paint or use a lindseed oil to brighten up the room. I have slowly been buying RED accessories such as the dish drainer and other little things. I really like the bright contrast between the red and white, but will have to acquire as we can. It also does not conflict too much with the yellow countertop. My dream counters would be either a lovely dark granite or slate. Our floors are hard cement and one set of the previous owners (not sure how far back) had decided to carpet them. I do not think carpets in the kitchen/dining room, bathroom - is very effective for THIS particular family! oh it is just awful....stains, augh. We have ceramic tile but have not yet installed it. have I mentioned glassware has a limited life span here?

We have white walls and Ivy border at the top. Wood grain floor tile, dark green moldings, and a light slate blue counter. I would LOVE to get a new counter but not sure what color. All our appliances are white and so are the blinds.

Sounds like you have a definite plan to update the look of your kitchen. I know you must be frustrated, but sometimes these projects take time. If you want to change your countertops, then check out one of the discount home improvement places like Lowe's or Home Depot and see how much it will cost. I never replaced my old countertop until I could afford the granite I wanted. It took me years, but I finally got it. I also had my cabinets refaced instead of replacing them because it was cheaper, but they came out beautiful. As for paint, I chose a pale blue, but now I want to re-paint to a more neutral color like taupe. Thankfully, paint is not expensive, its finding the time to do it. Good luck with your kitchen.

I rent a house. I love the kitchen it's big and have more space because I like to have big kitchen so I was lucky to get this house and would love to buy it if the landlord decide to sell it. The kitchen has cedar wood cabintes (real wood) the stove, frige and the dishwasher is beig or cream color and the sink is white but I want a stainless steel sink. I don't have any carpets in my house its all hardwood floors and the bothroom is original tiles on the floor and walls too it's rare to see those now days.

Unfortunately I have no control over my kitchen's appearance. I live in a rented apartment and we aren't allowed to change anything. It is huge drama just to get them let us paint the walls and if we do, when we move out we have to pay for them to paint them the lame egg shell white color of all of the rooms. The counters and cabinets look like they are as old as my brother (27) they are a dark brown (stained) wood and the counters are that seventies color yellow-brown. The appliances are a little bit on the newer side (probably the early 90's) and they are white. This complex was built in the early 70's and some of the apartments still have the original appliances and cabinets. Some of them even have the original carpets (a lovely shade of mustard yellow, and orange). The apartments all used to have carpeting in the kitchens (I have lived here on and off for about 20 years), but the ones I have seen recently have cheep lino floors.

I always like the Italian look of things for a kitchen. So my kitchen is a dark red color (not brite- but dark). It looks great with black or white appliances and just really brings out the color in that room!

We only moved into this house 7 months ago. The kitchen isnt too bad, but i do want to change it. It is open plan - one big room with kitchen, dining and lounge. The bench tops are cream and the cupboards a light wood. But i need lots more cupboards and a dishwasher! But that all has to wait as we are first having to do the bathroom which we will be starting in the next few weeks. Best wishes to you
