Is it really safe.....

I have a question for all the fellow mylotters. I have seen many profiles here where people have uploaded their personal photos. I was thinking that is it really safe to do that?? I dont mean that its bad to share our personal details. But then also cant the photos be used for some other purposes???
What do you all feel?? Should we upload our personal pics???

I was really nervous about uploading my personal pics at first, but honestly I think people worry too much about those sorts of things. Say someone stole my picture... and did what with it? Used it for their own? Sold it? What could they really do with it that could harm me?
And if they were going to use it to find me and stalk me or something, they'd be making a really long trip to the middle of nowhere to do so. Besides that, I'm in just as much danger going to work everyday (we could be robbed) or even just walking down the street. There is always danger, and I won't live my whole life in fear of it.

I do agree with you on the point that we all do worry a lot in the first to upload our personal pics and i am not different to them. But then also think if your photo is used in some kind of registration or in some other forums...then??

How will that really affect me though? I suppose if someone I knew saw it and thought it was me it could be a bit of a problem, but I don't think it could be too hard to straighten out. I don't like the idea of my picture plastered all over the web being used by people other than me, but the actual harm it would cause isn't that big, is it?

i see nothing erong with it, people have the photo's on a lot of site, like myspace.. It's not like our last name, address etc are posted also

I never thought about whether it was safe or not to upload our personal pictures. I guess I just trust all. I don't know what possible thing they could do with my photo for. But after you bringing this up I will be hesitant to upload any of my personal pictures. I would never upload pictures of my grandkids. You have brought up something I had not thought about.

Sorry for if you feel that i am discouraging you from uploading your personal pics...but what to do, its the truth. Internet crimes are increasing these days, and they can use anyone's photo to do it.

Honestly, I use the same penname and photo for all the sites I write/respond on. I have not given it much thought. I figure if someone wants to mess with me, then I got major problems no matter what I did or didn't do. It comes with the territory of being a writer.

Even i use the same username for all the sites i register. But just when i was about to upload my personal pics, it just came into my mind whether its safe to do that or not.
